Some Red County/Blue County Indicia

What’s crazy that rural communities that have depended on farming and manufacturing jobs have gotten smaller as farming and manufacturing have been outsourced. You would think those people would just start tech companies.

It’s incredible how tone deaf academics are in the modern day. Maybe it was always that way.

And they wonder why people like fauchi got blasted by random Americans.

When y'all gonna get off the wagon and start pulling yer weight.

Or even just lose a few pounds so it's not as heavy a load for the rest of us to pull.

I can almost hear Hilary say deplorable reading this post.

We gotta do something about those nasty farmers who don’t pull their own weight.

The brighter ones do. After they move. The journey from a farm to an engineering degree is a well-trod one.

Edit: The different ones do.

Apologies for any offense given.

Speaking as someone who grew up in a red rural county who moved to a blue county. I made the so called “farm to engineering” journey.

I have siblings who never left that work blue collar jobs. I probably make 4x as them. It would be incredibly offensive more me to think I am “brighter” or made better life choices. I just simply decided to do things differently.

Calling for people that work jobs that make less money to start pulling their weight is dripping in irony. We need farmers more than we need program managers and professors.

My best friend who couldn’t pass 9th grade math makes over 500k a year in construction. The smart ones are leaving degree required fields for blue collar work.

I'm glad someone appreciates the irony. Liberal arts majors around the country undoubtedly are similarly appreciative. No one likes to be judged by their bank accounts and the life choices they made that resulted in a particular financial outcome.

But we also do some very good things via community colleges that are a form of vocational education.

Well said

The lefts disdain for the people who literally feed them never ceases to disappoint me.

And I know I have certainly gotten more.value from my plumber and electrician than I have me DEI officer the large companies I have worked in. And those imbeciles make $500k a year

The collapse of the academic class is in motion and it can't finish soon enough

DEI is such a grift. They’d have no ability to make 100k plus without it.

In 20 years I see college enrollment down to 15% of population.

My day job is working in Ed tech industry and I can say with certainty that people and companies are rapidly turning away from college degrees and focusing heavily on skill development

The university sector will need to start showing results and ROI or it will eventually die. And I don't think they have the capacity to pivot

We are hiring now and the last thing I’m thinking about is what school they went to or what degree they have.

What prigramming languages do you know?

Tell me some excel templates you’ve made and what problems did they solve?

Can you speak to me like a real person?

EVERYTHING else can be taught on site.

I appreciate the consideration.

I’m not suggesting that rural areas are without their shortcomings. The small town caste system is alive and well which I think partially contributes to people leaving. (What incentive do you have to stay home and work for the local small business when the boss is just going to give the promotions to his kids). The anonymity working for a corporation in big city has its benefits.

Small towns just simply aren’t interested in growing. When I go home to visit…. (which is a pain in the ass mind you - blue counties should be lauded for their abundance of airports)… my mom wants to complain about how busy the intersection is where they added a new stop light.
