Spring Training Thread

But but but we don’t have a short stop….
😂😂😂

AA and those in charge agree with you - they will literally outscore every other team in MLB.

But but until he proves serviceable, people should question the SS position. Don't act like you know he's gonna be a stud. If he turns out to be very good who on this board has said they would hate it? It's still questionable until it ain't. Damn.

I'd be pretty surprised with a .750 OPS. I think he'll be fighting to keep it over .700.
In his best seasons he's done 15 so I wouldnt be shocked but they were sub.750 OPS if I'm not mistaken. .277 BA. Anything after that is a bonus I guess. I think Grissom had something to say about that eventually. I hope.

No man - I wasn’t saying that - at all- he may well suck. He probably will. I’m just saying with the rest of this lineup it’s not as important as it is made out to be - at least I hope it isn’t - if it’ is, we got much bigger problems .

My response was more about the accumulation of other posts. Not yours specifically. I think we all are saying the same thing in different ways. To me, it's not an "I told yall" kinda thing if Arcia does well. I'm disappointed that Grissom is not the SS, but it's not because I think Arcia is garbage.

I also said exactly what you did about the lineup affording the Braves a chance to do well in spite of or despite what comes out of LF/SS. I'm actually optimistic.

This team may hit 300 HRs.

Some of the Blue Jays' teams Anthopoulos assembled are a lot like this Braves' team in that there will be a lot of mashing. Braves' pitching looks stronger than what Anthopoulos had in Toronto, so if the team stays healthy (especially on the pitching staff), it could be a 100+ win team. Not a ton of depth, but there's so much offense here that it might not matter.

One thing I'll give AA credit for is how he was able to navigate last season with the pitching staff following the extended playoffs and world series use. He started the season with a 6 man rotation, gave guys extra rest throughout the year, used depth pieces from the minors for spot starts, and essentially was able to keep everyone healthy for the most part. Hope that can repeat.

I am so over spring training.

But does anyone think this Forrest Wall guy is going to be anything for us this year? He is having a really great spring.. 4 walks to 4 K's

Hilliard making it tough on him

Wall was already assigned to a minor league camp. So it might be hard to find time on the big squad if Ozuna/Hillard/RaSorryio all play ok.. I just have been impressed with him every time I get to watch him play this spring. Good D, Good ABs, Good results.

His base running could be huge this season with the new rules

whoof. Just went and checked Swanson's spring. I know spring is spring.. but that would worry me as a cub's fan.

Jansen not so hot either, very small sample size though..

Pache had a decent spring and looks to be in the running for the center job out of camp.

WC was a bit rough this spring just looking at the hitting numbers.

Kyle Muller is the opening day starter for the A's
