My judgement without realizing he’d push the same neo-con foreign policy was wrong. But I did note during that time desantis has been vague about his foreign policy. I know you love to leave that part out because it destroys this silly game you’re tying to play.

Social security wasn’t setup with the intention that income taxes would fund it. That’s why we specifically have social security taxes.

You’re proposing to fund social security with income tax and/or inflation. You’re basically asking the next few generations to pay extra and if you can’t fund it with those “easy fixes” it goes bankrupt.

There is a legal/accounting concept called substance over form. The government collects X in taxes and pays Y in expenditures. How you do the math is irrelevant.

Ultimately we need drastic changes in how this country is run to ensure that social security and Medicare do not collapse. I’ve outlined 3 things that would significantly change our course. We don’t have to accept a declining nation.

You have blasted RDS for saying that something has to change for the math to work

You have said we just need more jobs and the problem is solved

I’d first exhaust all other courses of action like significant policy changes I’ve outlined. Then I’d explore closing loopholes like buy/borrow/die that benefit the wealthy. The I would increase marginal rates on the highest income earning brackets. And as a last resort yes I’d raise taxes to ensure Americans have a life of dignity.

But in my world my three policy descriptions would make such a drastic change none of that would be needed.

No no no - your change is privatizing and risking financially illiterate people’s livelihoods at the whims of market cycles.

My changes are holistic policy changes in how we operate as a country and whk we care about more. The donors or the people.

As long as you know where this road ends, I can respect that.

Personally, I don’t see a philosophical difference between that and student loan forgiveness. I don’t think the hardworking blue collar work that gets a pension through their work and saved for their retirement should have to fund others who didn’t plan and prepare.

Student loan forgiveness to me is completely different because because the one making the payments are for their own personal benefit and other than minuscule tenth level incidental benefits they are the only ones that receive any “value”.

In addition, it’s yet another example of how policy created the mess and not the concept of student lending itself.

I just hope Putin does not see Trump's comments on his invasion of Ukraine. That will be really awkward
