GDT 4/6/23: Braves vs Padres - Home Opener

McHugh to the IL, Shuster up - guessing he starts tomorrow.

Going to need Jimenez to figure it out as a RH bullpen option.

Are the braves about to become the Red Sox? Offense that scares teams to death, and a pitching staff that can't get out anyone

Uhhhhh…. Other than the Shuster’s first inning…. I’d say our staff hasn’t allowed much of anything….

Now yes, I am aware we’ve had some elite defensive plays and lucky opponents BABIP in our favor … but I’d say we’re doing pretty durn well … and have a whole army of arms coming soon …

:)

We've given up 1, 4, 2, 4, 2, 1. Good defense has made it look a little better but with Fried, Wright, Iggy coming up soon, pitching is way more than fine.

And as for left field …. Rosario and (insert platoon partner here) outta work out pretty well.

But just to show my ignorance, stupidity, and delusion …., I still think Ozuna is going to have a big season for us. I think they give at least until mid May - as long as we keep winning - to get it.
OR - obviously - you pick up the phone if there’s a GM anywhere as dumb as me calling to enquire

FWIW my opinion is that Ozuna is untradeable. Options: Keep eyes on all those young MLB minimum guys (throw in Grissom maybe) and just dump him. Dont have enough opinion of Rosario yet.

I feel like we will get some guys back, but 2 of our top 3 starters, closer, and one of our best back end relievers being out is concerning as hell to me. Ian has been bad the last season, but he's depth, and we lost him too. And yes, we have pitched it great so far...

Someone mentioned trading him for Aaron Hicks in a different article. I could get behind that plan. Or maybe swap for MadBum.

MadBum got torched in his first start of the year and got sent back to Arizona to see a doctor, so not interested in that option. But it would need to be a bad contract swap, if we get lucky enough to find someone willing to take Ozuna's baggage

They’ve used McHugh a lot the past few days and he’s a bit older plus they were going to need to call up Shuster soon anyways.

This sounds like an early 2 week vacation for CM imo

From Grant McAuley: Brian Snitker said both Max Fried and Raisel Iglesias are feeling good. Fried is throwing, but Iglesias has yet to do so. That's his next step.

Fried hasn't tested the hamstring running yet, but could soon. Once he does so, #Braves will have a clearer timeline for his return.
