4/10 GDT: Reds game 1

Albies is making double Arcia, so we definitely can’t afford to be patient with him coming off a missed season.

Guy needs to suck it up and just hit righty - I wonder if the organization has tried to do this on backfields and its looked awful. I just don't get why this hasn't been done yet. He is becoming an AWFUL lefthanded hitter.

Eh there was plenty of “we should have traded for a SS not a catcher”.

I don't think that was a hit at Murphy, but a hit at using our best prospect to fill a position that we already had 2 good players at. WC is doing just fine offensively and defensively as a Brewer. Murphy is doing just fine as a Brave. The hate was the trade not the player. We really need some bats (LF/DH).. Heck, we really need pitching.. both those things could have been addressed by keeping Muller. instead we gave away assets for what appears to be a latteral move right now.

This is where I was (am still at). There's no doubt that Murphy is one of the better catchers in the game. I don't know anyone who predicted he would perform poorly. It was just a head scratcher because we already had a good catcher. It was a large price to pay to fill a spot on the roster that wasn't a position of need.

There may or may not have been a SS we could get but there almost certainly was a decent left fielder available somewhere.

I doubt that SS was available.

I didn't mention a SS. I sort of thought Griss was going to be our SS. I have always wanted to replace our DH/LF with anything that might have a positive impact on the team.. but I would have just rather kept the players we got rid of and had those assets at the deadline if nothing this past offseason materialized. And like others, I don't understand the Brewers involvment. They gave one **** player and got 3 back including WC.

This goes for the Malloy trade as well. We could have just spent the money on a mid level reliever (there were a million out there at the time)... don't look what Malloy is doing in AAA btw.

You just believed the Braves hype. Doubt he was ever considered to be our SS.

With the money committed to LF/DH right now they weren't going to add resources to start the year. Was obvious to me the plan was to see if Ozuna/Rosario had anything and they would make a move at the deadline if needed. The Brewers involvement was the A's wanting a particular player and being dumb.
