4/12 gdt: Lets win

Olson will be fine lol. The sky isn’t always falling.

He will forever be compared to Freddie on this board. lol Dude is hitting .294 with an .410 OBP, .627 slugging and 1.037 OPS. He's also very streaky... I wouldn't be shocked if he goes 2-4 with a walk tomorrow.

Olson has been more than fine. Need better production from others in the lineup when he goes on a coldspell.

You know how it goes. Ozzie has a cold spell and he’s terrible and Strider is obviously ready for TJ bc he’s not trying to blow his arm out on every pitch lol. Comical.

personally, I think we should sit Olly for a few games and let Ozuna man 1B for a game or 2. that should send a solid message that Olson needs to bunt more versus striking out.

Olson has been awesome, but I don't think pointing out 36.1% k rate as concerning is wrong. Remember, we got em to change his swing some. He's currently 9th in MLB in k rate

Highest BB rate of his career and has hit the hardest ball of his career. Only been 61 PA. Think he’ll be fine.

I think people are being overly sensitive over people being overly sensitive.. Olson sucked the reds series.. Olson overall has been great... Olson is striking out way too much.. See everyone is right.

You guys make a good point about how Tampa needs to freakin’ lose today. The ‘82 Braves streak seems like yesterday - and I wanna keep that record - I know we share it, but I sure as hell don’t want Tampa joining the club - or surpassing it.
Somewhere chief nocahoma agrees with me.

good luck. The Sox are trash.

Six at bats ago it was low 20’s…

I get it if this is just who he is now then it’s concerning. But it’s such a small sample size and it’s been demonstrated again and again and again not to read too much into these trends in less than 300 at bats.

My concern is pitchers found something in his new swing. I haven't watched PAs before and during this K stretch though, so hopefully it's just a slump

Thats why K-rate is not what we should be looking at. I thought a week or two ago that there were concerns at how much he was swinging and missing. His current rate would have been 14th worst last year. There are some decent players in that range but ultimately not what we want Olson to be.

More outcomes as its just based on times that he swings so you don't have to wait for 300AB's to get concerned. Not there yet with sufficient sample but its getting close.

There were issues before the K's started happening. If you swing and miss twice in an AB but walk that is a concern long term to me.

That said. I want him to continue to hit well so he's a slam dunk HOFer and end up in Cooperstown with an A on his hat.

He's going to go in as a Dodger and you know it if he stays there - I will puke in my mouth when that happens.

I seriously doubt it. MVP and title with Atlanta. Most of his career will be here. Inevitably I think Freeman starts to decline hard in the next couple of years. It's almost universal with 1B.

He just never relied on big power so I think his ageing curve looks different - His slg% will go down for sure but I see him as a high avg/obp hitter well into his late 30's.
