The A's announced they have purchased a plot of land just west of the Las Vegas strip with the intention of building a new stadium, although they haven't secured the stadium part of the deal yet. The Mayor of Oakland has announced that negotiations are over with the city about a new stadium in Oakland and the A's are focused on Las Vegas.

Sounds like they will have the full deal with the new stadium secured by the end of the year.

Once that side is done, it will be down to Tampa to figure their situation out...Sounds like Manfred really wants to expand to 2 more teams after that.
 
There is a stadium proposal the A's are working on for the Las Vegas property that would be a 35k seat stadium. Seems light, but I guess it would be a lot of out of town customers coming to the games.

And it would be a semi-retractable roof stadium.
 
Really feel sorry for Oakland fans. Two iconic teams stripped away in less than 10 years and Golden State recently moved into San Fran.

We’ll see what talent they still have in the front office. They’ve had a lot of attrition and have made many questionable decisions.

And Fisher still owns the team and he’s an atrocious owner. I wouldn’t assume he just owns his wallet up (even though it will for sure be much better obviously).
 
Can’t blame A’s fans for not wanting to attend a crappy ballpark, and a team ownership had put zero effort into.

Ummm yeah, to watch the worst team in the league in a crappy stadium. A’s fans have consistently shown up to support them when they’ve been good, despite the garbage stadium and ownership situation.

They had 5,196 vs cubs Tuesday.

Oakland last 5 playoff appearances and attendance (2020 excluded)...
2019 - 24th
2018 - 27th
2014 - 24th
2013 - 23rd
2012 - 27th
 
Just checked the ticket prices for their next series at home. it is vs the Reds. You can get seats in the sections directly behind the home and visitor dugouts from anywhere from $50-$80....You can sit field level, directly behind home plate for $350

The problem, is their stadium is in a bad area like the Ted was with nothing to do immediately around the ballpark. The stadium is also seriously out dated, giving fans nothing to do but watch their team get their ass whooped....I don't blame their fans for that one bit. If i'm a fan of a team, i'd rather watch from home than give the team $1 of my hard earned money when they refuse to reinvest that money into the team or the experience.
 
you have to consider cost and stadium location when looking at college versus pro. How much does it really cost to see a college baseball game and usually the stadiums are close to campus so students have ease of access while drinking and having a good time. It becomes more social than, let me watch a game. Not to mention parents/friends/boosters attending games.

The A's cost would be more, you are not with a bunch of people that are like minded, and that org has been struggling for years. I think you have to cut pro sport fans a bit more slack when they also know the team is raking in money and putting it in their pockets versus college's raking in money and putting it in other sports that don't make money... and their pockets.

Keep in mind that most of their teams that have gone to the playoffs have been surprise teams no one expected to be competitive. So attendance would normally be down earlier in the year and tick up as the season progressed.

That's neither here nor there, bottom line, everyone can agree that have **** ownership and even ****tier stadium. I feel like moving out of Oakland was ownerships plan all along.

Chair backs were $250+ last Saturday. Not sure what the GA tix were.

The next saturday game for A's in Oakland are from $20-300 on Ticketmaster. Only the tix by dugouts are over $150

eTA... to be fair, state set the all time on campus record for college baseball last Saturday, so it's normally less. Think we avg around 10k

2012-14, they were playoff team. Hard to believe they came out of nowhere for a 3-year stretch
