GDT 5/2/23: Braves @ Mets - DH Game 2

Boy the Mets are absolute garbage! It’s going to be a long and painful season for this mediocre MFers m

Ozuna is about to be released man. Team is done with him.

His ass is in the dugout…he can hit. There was absolutely zero sense in starting Hilliard and Adrianza…fckn zero! Their starters came in the game in the 7th anyway…This was ****ty managing period…in no fckn world was Chadwick Tromp going to get a hit or a HR there…with the light hitting Pillar behind him you strike then with Ozuna. Snit is an idiot.

Three up after taking two of three against our main comp on the road with right at a .750 winning percentage. What exactly is there to complain about?

Can't win em all. But a series win against the Mutts always feels good.

Let's get em in Miami!

We need Elder to be good Elder tonight! I'm looking forward to the "big bats" figuring their **** out because without Acuna for a few games (likely), we'll need the cold bats to wake up.

Watching Jimenez pitch, I’m more confused about how he was ever good. There is nothing impressive about his arsenal.

Don't look at what Malloy is doing for Detroit. AA is good for about one complete head scratcher a year. This is definitely one of those.

I think we both know he can't.

Jiminez...
12.0 k9, 2.0 bb9

I like this, so he has some swing and miss. It's still early

I'll give a SSS warning here. 9 IP is not a lot but it's fun to discuss anyway.

Jiminez has two seasons with a FIP under 4, 2018 and 2022. Those also correlate to the two years his HR/FB was under 10%. It's sitting at 16.7% this year. A little higher than his career average but not outrageously different.

The Statcast data has me a little concerned too. Before this year, Jiminez had an average EV between 88.2 and 89.3 except for 2020 when it jumped to 92.1. 2020 was probably his worst season. His FIP was 6.72, his xFIP was 5.17, and despite the short season he had a career low -0.6 WAR.

If the season ended today, Jiminez would have a career high exit velocity of 92.2. He'd also have a career high Barrel% and the second highest HardHit% of his career (second only to 2020). Jiminez is getting hit hard so far.

He is striking out way more batters than he did in 2020. That and his low BB rate have kept his numbers from getting too out of hand but you want more back for Malloy than a replacement level middle reliever. He needs to pick it up.

well since we gave Malloy away for 1 year of JJ, 9 innings is probably about 1/6 of the total innings he will probably give you.. and that might be generous giving how little trust Twit has in him. So we might want to start judging...

I saw where all of Acuna’s tests were negative and he’s day to day.

Can you imagine what Bob Horner would think of that injury yesterday?

(I’m sure it hurt like hell- and I’d be dead, just so we are clear….but the question stands)
