GDT 5/2/23: Braves @ Mets - DH Game 2

I saw where all of Acuna’s tests were negative and he’s day to day.

Can you imagine what Bob Horner would think of that injury yesterday?

(I’m sure it hurt like hell- and I’d be dead, just so we are clear….but the question stands)

Meh. Some guys have zero pain tolerance. Seems that's Acuna's only weakness.

Yeah -I mean Nolan Ryan would kick his ass for that. I don’t even want to know what Cal Ripken or Freddie Freeman would say … oh- wait…:)

He has such low pain tolerance I wonder how he stands at the plate without being scared of the ball.

That’s what I don’t get… I have zero pain tolerance and I got hit in the knee cap with just a 70 mph pitch and that was basically the end of me playing baseball because I cringed at every pitch from there on out. My theory is that Ronald likes the drama a little bit and most of it is an overreaction. Because he seems unfazed in the box after. I think he just milks it for the attention a bit. It is what it is.

Whatever it is. At least he's no JD Drew

Go back and watch it happen. Look at the way Acuna is holding his arm after getting hit. Looked like the mother of all stingers to me. If that's what it was, his arm would have been on fire and not many would have been able to play through it.

In any event, with all the times Acuna has gotten drilled and stayed in the game, I think I'll give him the benefit of the doubt here.

And now the narrative will be about the miraculous recovery after having his scapula nearly shattered.

I also think it’s a bit of an attention grab when he overreacts.

Pain sensitivity is different for everyone but I have a hard time believing Acuña would have come out of the game without at least running the bases if he really wasn't able to keep playing.

Well, if that’s the case I wish he wouldn’t play it out so much that he leaves in the middle of a game against a division rival.
