2024 Field

I believe you agree that the entire deep state is against freedom loving Americans. The president, the DOJ, the FBI, the CIA, the IRS, etc etc.

But you also want to give these same people power over all American employment?

The only thing this is going to check is if you are a citizen or not. That is the only thing that is being written into law.

EO's were isused that were much worse than this.

And would contribute to my list of to do’s along with “renew driver’s license and car registration”, so I vote no due to procrastination.

It could easily be folded into a driver's license. With alternative options for those who don't drive.

So you're giving power to the federal government to stop illegal immigration?

The government literally did all of those things without E-Verify. So using a boogeyman that already happened without E-Verify doesn't move the needle at all.

What are you going to do about the tens of millions of illegals currently in the country? How are you going to stop the inflow that happens at non-ports of entry? Militarizing the border is great but all it is is just another governemtn use of power which we need at this point in time.

Luckily defending our borders is a constitutional obligation of the federal government... unlike verifying every employee in the country

How about defending the homeland from an economic onslaught against the middle class?

If you are going to use the correct argument of defending hte border then we must be defending it from an 'enemy' or a 'threat' to the American people. What do we do with those threats that are already within the borders?

I doubt this. States have different requirements including how long the ID is valid. It would a significant amount of work to standardize in order to layer a federal identification on top of that. I would imagine this would be a similar process to social security and would go through a federal agency..

I'm perfectly fine with mass deportation.

but a genuine question I have is how much work is currently being done by illegals that Americans dont want to do... and how disruptive to the American way of life would it be to lose that labor abruptly?

(I don't know the answer to either question... but if immigrants are taking farming jobs for example that Americans don't want... then I would rather them be doing those jobs rather than crops not being grown... make sense? )

what's the deal with the "real ID" card? I just got one with my recent passport renewal

Illegal immigration and employment is the reddest of herrings. You are fixing a problem that’s becoming less and less pervasive. AI is clearly the biggest threat to middle class jobs. The scale of the two isn’t comparable

Its an irrelevant question and a talking point of Libertarians and Traditional Republicans. Until we properly legislate that you need to be an American citizen to work in the US or at least a reasonable pathway to becoming a documented member of society then you shouldn't work. You are still in this idea that we need to have a 100% efficient system but those 100% efficient systems create other issues that have led to the degradation of the country.

What we could do is we could then make welfare recipients work (that physically can) for any of these displaced jobs.

Do you want a world again where one blue collar job can support a family? Well then you have to get serious and accept that we won't be a 100% efficient system.

Then you have an even worse problem because you have more people within the country that aren't working so you better fix both.

Further - YOu are just strengthening the case to get rid of all illegal immigrants.

a world where one blue collar job could support a family was killed when the federal government decided that printing money to spend beyond our means was the best solution in order to fund endless entitlements.

the dollar won't buy what it used to

meanwhile... i would rather an immigrant plant the crops than no crops being planted

Pretty sure Real ID was born out of the differences by state that I alluded to . Since states have different verification requirements for drivers license, the thinking was it doesn’t make sense to accept those ID equally. Basically this is something that only impacts you if you fly and you don’t want to use a passport.

to be clear... I want the border closed. and I want illegals deported. and I dont want to give the federal government the power to approve American employment.

seems like another tax to me. but I got mine and had no idea the use case for it. I suppose I can drive over the border of Mexico and Canada with it instead of a passport. oh which I have done one time in my life

Illegal immigration is a problem that should be solved. But the “they took our jobs!” approach isn’t all that convincing to me.

But they did take jobs of the middle class. They ARE depressing wages of the middle class.

Maybe it isn't convincing to you but its convincing to the people that are the ones getting shafted.
