January 6th insurrection thread...

Yet, where was all the violence? lol They didn't talk about committing the violence. They thought others were going to do it.

Oath Keepers went into the capitol and were actually helping the police against some of the rowdy ones. I bet you didn't know that part, did you?

Worst overthrow of the government evah.

I believe the charge was seditious conspiracy not sedition itself. Had they started shooting they would have likely been charged with treason. The plan was in place, they said they were waiting for Trump to give the order which they believed invoking the insurrection act authorized them to use violence.

Usually to be charged with conspiracy you kinda need a plan.

If they had planned to take the capital by force then that is a conspiracy. There wasn't one planned.

There were zero plans for violence against the government that day. With the informants they had the best they could come up with is drunk, tough guy talk.

Generally conspiracies arent memorialized on paper. But they did spend quite a bit of money on arms and body armor and ftransported all of it to Washington. They went looking for trouble and trouble found them.

This is the overall pisser about J6. I imagine if I was outside the capital that day and I saw the cops waving people in that might have lured me in to see what was happening because I would believe that it was OK to do. Then all of a sudden I would be charged with trespassing and obstruction of an official event and have my life ruined for months by a POS judge and jury even though I was invited in.
The sad part is that you peckerheads defend this ****.

Yeah, nothing of which is illegal to do. No, they don't have to be on paper but we found no audio of them making any plans either.

We can all have our opinions but the courts are the arbiters of what is illegal. Abdel-Rahman appealed his conviction. Stewie will do the same.

Most of the sentences have been light and in many cases have not included prison time. Overall the DoJ has gotten it about right. With a notable exception.

Anybody who was given sentences after being invited is nonsense. People who went through windows is another matter.

No matter what yo claim regarding this is invalidated by your support of Trump. If you could be honest about Trump who has advocated for prosecuting political enemies and anyone and everyone that says a bad word about him then maybe we wouldnt laugh at you. You cant claim to be against weaponizing law enforcement and be a Trump supporter, you can only choose 1 of the 2.

If I do will you promise not to do any whataboutsisms or any misdirection games? Otherwise, go away.

I will give you an honest assessment of any case you want to bring that is an example of what you said. I will not however feel an ounce of sympathy for people who support prosecuting political enemies and weaponizing law enforcement if they got a taste of their own medicine. I am about to check out so it wont be today though.

If they can produce an invitation I would think their chances on appeal are quite good.

That won't do you much good if you've already spent time in jail. You keep saying if a ruling isn't fair you can go the appeals but it isn't always that simple.

They should sue their lawyer if they were invited in and the lawyer failed to enter the invitation as evidence.

There's only one case that I know of where the judge cared about the invitation. None of the others cared.

It seems to me then they should have a good case on appeal. If I was a judge and the defendant had evidence of an invitation I would give it a lot of weight. I am shocked to learn that the judges in all but one case spurned such evidence. That would be a shocking miscarriage of justice if true.
