"... What's so significant, he said, is that while Mississippi hasn’t overcome poverty or RACISM, it still manages to get kids to read and excel...."

...

They just can't help themselves from taking a pot shot at us.

Im not sure you can overcome racism when most of the teachers and staff are black, and so are the kids.

His point is you can't or shouldn't use those things as excuses not to educate children.

“You cannot use poverty as an excuse. That’s the most important lesson,” Deming added. “It’s so important, I want to shout it from the mountaintop.” What Mississippi teaches, he said, is that “we shouldn’t be giving up on children.”

It's an important point.

And I think the buy-in (enthusiastic buy-in) of the teachers is another point. From the article:

Another is that while education reforms around the country have often been ferociously contentious and involved battles with teachers’ unions, this education revolution in Mississippi unfolded with support from teachers and their union.

“This is something I’m proud of,” said Erica Jones, a second-grade teacher who is the president of the Mississippi affiliate of the National Education Association, the teachers’ union. “We definitely have something to teach the rest of the country.”

So what is the point you are making?

Most people with guns don't go to firing ranges, and most people who will commit a mass shooting probably are in the group of people who don't go to firing ranges and probably go into the woods near their house

But... the problem is the guns zito.

There are lots of guns at a shooting range.

why aren't the guns killing people at the shooting range?

Do you think the guns in my home are inherently dangerous and put me and my family at great risk?

inherently is doing a lot of work in this question

but yes, as soon as a gun enters the house or is possessed

the person or family is at a greater risk than they were before to gun violence

that's just a fact

I'm guessing none of that will change your stance though cause that's not your point you're shooting for etc

also, I don't give a **** what sex or race any shooter is, I want hard sentences on gun crimes. **** any loser like that Hollywood Florida shooter

hippies were homeless people ftr

the companies are leaving San Fran cause of too much theft and possible the other factors too. would really have to look at the numbers if you were allowed to do determine the exact reason but just letting people steal stuff isn't sustainable

hmmm, I think I covered enough of the topics I read from last time I posted here.

but I really wanted to respond to the "clever" gun question the most

I was amused to see Tim Horton making inroads in Northern Michigan. I'm partial to Duck Donuts, especially the one with bacon.

This highlights a serious problem in the legal system. A judge had to sign off on there being probable cause. The prosecutor has little to fear in terms of consequences. The system is stacked against people like this. The bar to arrest people and prosecutors to charge is way too low. Almost every judge is a former prosecutor. Defense lawyers dont get appointed to judgeships. Its not a coincidence.

On the flip side, it is not stupid to live in Florida or Texas... where they make it illegal to mutilate children
