Not that I am defending Trump.
But one of the top three rules in politics, is if your opponent is constantly shooting themselves in the foot and setting themselves on fire as DeSantis has been doing, you just let them do it.
Trump engaging as current frontrunner would give DeSantis a chance as a wounded animal to get some licks in.
If they were polling closer then thr Trump.campaign would definitely be on the full attack. But since DeSantis' polling keeps tanking there's zero reason for the frontrunner to give DeSantis a platform opportunity to swing for the fences.

2. From where I sit... Trump has done nothing but relentlessly attack DeSantis... he is focus appears to be solely focused on DeSantis (not Biden - which a front runner should be). Trump has spent more money on attacking DeSantis than he did for any other cause. And his being too scared to debate him is further proof to me he is not the guy to do what needs to be done.
Trump will likely win the nomination and then will definitely get slaughtered in 2024. RDS is offering the base an opportunity... but the cult is not interested in winning

8 months ago Trump and his cult weren't relentless attacking tremendous allies to the movement. Today they are.

2016 Trump attacked anyone next to him on the debate stage. Jeb, Cruz, Carson, Kasich, etc.
Other than some attacks on his truth platform which nobody really pays attention to, he has basically let DeSantis tank his own poll numbers.

I'm pretty sure the laboratory-engineered theory of origin is correct with respect to candidate DeSantis. He was bio-engineered in one of those Ukrainian labs to optimally appeal to a voter like sturg. He and those kinds of voters bind together very tightly. With other voters not so much. That's how it works with bioengineering. If you don't believe me I refer you to notable and esteemed expert RFK Jr.
Trouble is sturg-like voters are a niche. And niche candidates don't win. It isn't too late for him to try to expand his appeal beyond that niche. But I don't see any interest or willingness to do so on his part.
In contrast, voters like thethe are the base not the niche. They are today's GOP.

Got to admit this made me laugh.
Desantis is not authentic and is rehearsed. It was obvious from the beginning that he would never succeed nationally against someone like trump who is authentic and connects with voters. Couple that with a policy set out of the late 20th century and he was domed to fail.
He was carried over the finishing line in 2018 by MAGA and he forgot that. If trump ran against him in 22 in Florida for governor trump would have won by double digits. I know that’s hard for some to understand but it’s the truth.

Having traditional GOP policies just won’t work with the electorate any longer. Trump changed the game and that’s why the establishment hates him.

You underestimate the amount of democrats that voted for trump and never before voters who are only trump.
Only difference is trump will get blamed for both directions.
