Trade deadline thread

That's a lot of if's.

And yet we've spent a huge chunk of the season with what is effectively a three man rotation. All I'm saying is that it will be concerning if this circumstance crops up in the playoffs. Rotation depth is something we could use.

If Fried arm hurts then we run with Mort/Strider/Edler
If Mort breaks his leg we run with Fried/Strider/Elder
If Elder falls apart we run with Fried/Strider/Mort
If 2 things happen, we are in trouble even with Lorenza...

I think looking at the cost for him, I am a bit dissapointed we didn't try to at least bid up the Faiillies. But I am not that worried about it.

Anyone expecting Alonso to decline must be consistent and expect Olson to decline in a similar manner.

Sure. The big difference here is Olson will be having productive years while the Braves are in the middle of a championship window. That's likely not to be the case for the Mets if they extend Alonso in the offseason.

Olson’s extension is at a good price. If the Mets lock Pete up for 6/132, I don’t think there will be too much to poke fun at.

The Mets are always going to act like a win-now club that doesn't actually win.

Why we should be all thankful that we don't have a very rick fan who wants to buy the team.. Fans are dumb and shouldn't be meddling in day to day dealings. Trying to win every year is meddling in my opinion.

Braves super quiet today as well as the Padres. AA plays things super close to the chest.....perhaps a Snell/Hader blockbuster? Lol a dude can dream.

You can run a 3 man rotation in the playoffs but it's hard to do it consistently. I liked Lorenzen because if bad things happen we could start him instead of running a bullpen game. But if our rotation stayed intact, we could flex him to the pen. It made decent sense, especially considering the negligible cost.

Of course, if AA picks up an impact starter that would give us needed rotation depth as well as improve the rotation overall.

Not saying I disagree with you. But just makes it almost all the more stunning how the braves were able to survive the 2021 playoffs and especially the world series, with essentially 3 SPs.
