Every team does it so I doubt it effects their value any. Teams know what's up.

It's basically. You want that MLB service time or to get DFAed?

this, it is a win win.. team doesn't burn one his options within the year and he keeps collecting service time and big league pay.. probably still travels with the team and enjoys those perks.
