GDT: 8/19: Braves vs San Fran - Soggy Cheerios

First season I can remember where I just legitimately expect the Braves to win every night; and, even when they lose, they feel in it until the end, with the opposing team being the party that can’t relax until the final out is recorded.

It feels strange. It feels too good to be true. It’s a struggle to process, but it’s really fun.

We just have to keep not jinxing this. So, having said all that, I full expect a ten-game losing streak to start tomorrow.

Also, Snit's post game comments about Cheerios showed a lot of frustration and were as close to publicly complaining about a player as you'll see from Snit. It's pretty clear Cheerios is not someone Snit wants on the roster. He's AA's fascination.

Chirinos is just out there while guys figure it out/work their way back. I doubt AA thinks he’s good.
There really is not enough to talk about with this team.

Need Acuns to take this MVP into his hands. Would love a couple more bombs from him today

If it's true about Soroka's service time I imagine that's where the frustration is aimed at.

But like Super said...he's just a body throwing innings for a weeks for various reasons.

Rasiel has been a monster the last two months. I think this is about as calm as I’ve been in the 9th inning since Kimbrel was our closer.

I think we should go to a six-man rotation, but just pitch Chirinos every third day. That's what I would do.

Soroka entered 2023 with 4.122 days of service. He needed 50 days to reach 4.172, or 5 years of service. How many days was he on the roster this year?

I think he earned 24 days of service this year from June 30 to July 23. That means he can accrue 25 more days this year and be under 4.172 years. I think that puts his return date around Sept 8. I might be off a day or so here and there.

Ugh. It sounds like Michael Harris is out today, and maybe for an extended period, due to a right foot fracture from a foul ball last night.

Jk. He’s out today but it’s not thought to be serious.

Thanks for helping out dummies like me with service time

The thing about Chirinos is he’s basically designed in a lab to highlight the gulf between Anthopoulos’ analytics and Snitker’s usage patterns. Very good fip/xfip first time through; solid enough second time through; absolutely abysmal third time through; would really benefit from an opener.

I think Tampa used him as an opener. If you could use Brad Hand for two innings to open up or the same for Chavez when he's back, it may.....work?

Then again, I don't want to see Chirinos again unless he's eating innings in the last week of the year after the Braves have clinched Homefield advantage throughout the entire playoffs.
