Official Around Baseball 2023 Thread

There are many varying degrees of jorts wearing to determine your demographic in this country (at least for men anyways). But the main ones are as follows:

If you wear jorts with white New Balances and tube socks, and with a tucked-in collar shirt, you're probably just the average boomer. Redneck rating: None - very little

If you wear any combination of jorts with boots, wife beater/air brushed T-Shirt, and gas station sunglasses, then it's likely you visit Gatlinburg, TN, Branson, MO, or Panama City Beach at least once a year, and you probably talk about your local high school football team way too much. Redneck rating: Medium-Heavy

And finally if you are a guy and your jorts are cut off.... well you have probably dated a not so distant relative at some point in your life. Redneck Rating: Extreme

Perfectly summed up.
Actual jorts are the cutoff blue jeans. Technical difference between that and store bought blue jean shorts. These are pretty much guaranteed to be accompanied by a Florida gators 🐊 tank top and a mullet.

Camargo DFA after the Giants signed DeJong. Could be a good option to have on hand in the system that can play SS in the event something happens to Arcia or Lopez especially this late in the season.

I’d rather put cheerios at short stop and let Matt Olson start game one of the World Series on the mound

I’m not sure Camargo can play SS any better than Charlie Culberson.

Fangraphs says he's been better at SS than at 3rd for what its worth. He's spent most of his time at the majors this year at SS. We're of course talking about a backup utility player here though not one we'd ideally have see a playoff roster

Wow that's a costly injury. It's a pity he didn't sign with one of the dumb teams before this happens. Would have been really nice to see the Dodgers waste 600 million on him. Or very funny to see the Yankee or Mets do it.

At worst, he's still a great hitter, right?

The 2021 Braves and 2022 Phillies made stupid teams like the Angels and Padres believe they can go far only winning 85-88 games. The problem is that neither LAA nor SD have proven they can even get to 85 wins this year. Neither will.

I actually feel bad for the Angels.. they try, they really do. Somehow you have 2 generational players in their prime and still can't get into an expanded playoff.. The GM unfortunately doesn't know how to build around the fringe like quality GMs.. The Friars... I am quite happy they spent so much money and failed like the Mutt$ did... I hope they fire Pretzel and have to tear that whole team down.. Machadodo is a top 3 least favorite player.

Remember that time the angels were bad and instead of trading 2 months of ohtani for a boost to their farm they chose to deplete their farm even more by acquiring mlb talent to “go for it”?

Remember that time the Mets won the offseason by spending more money than other other team in the history of baseball by paying old aging star players ludicrous money, only to see those old aging stats predictably get injured and ruin the season?
