Kapler’s challenges are baffling.
He’s a way better strategic manager and I would prefer Kapler in the postseason. But I really think Gabe over manages these regular season games. Do we think Michael Harris would have been given the chance to develop hitting left handed pitching with Gold’s Gym as his manager?
There’s probably good data that it’s better to be aggressive with challenges. I assume the odds are that you miss challenging something you could win are higher than the risk of not having a challenge to overturn a bad call later.Kapler’s challenges are baffling.
I think Joc is a close enough proxy to Mike. He was basically finished as a full time hitter at age 24.This is a very good question. It seemed obvious to us that Harris should be given a few hundred PAs vs LHP to develop, and I find it hard to imagine any analytically driven team would pigeonhole a player like Harris so early.
Teams like the dodgers seem to platoon everyone, and I don’t follow them closely enough to understand when they make that decision about a player.
Kapler is a very analytical tactician. We should get rid of Snit and bring him in.
