We just won another series on the road. Yep.

Braves just doing best team in franchise history stuff again.

Vines makes his debut today... from what I've heard, I think he's kind of a soft tosser? May not be a great recipe for Coors

Morton is 10th in the majors in ERA and 22nd in FIP. Not bad for the old man.

Unless we win the WS and Morton wants to end on a high note, I'm sure he will get a nice $20M extension. He's been exactly what they need. Giving that kind of dough to a 40-year-old is scary, but he's definitely earned it.

He's got a $20 million club option for next year. It's hard to imagine it wont be exercised.

This will be the most interesting decision AA makes this winter. Charlie has been shoving, but as you said given he's about to turn 40, he could turn into a pumpkin at any minute. Ideal world, we win the WS, and Charlie hangs them up.

That is the beauty of the 1 year deals. Actually in an ideal world Charlie continues to pitch and perform at a 3+ WAR pace. Hard to imagine getting that kind of value on the open market.

I have no idea what will happen, but I legitimately do not understand why people are afraid of the Dodgers now. We got the monkey off our back in 2021 and this team is very easily better

I don't know if "afraid" is the right word, but it's going to be a very difficult series. They have been playing even better than the Braves this month, plain and simple. And the Braves haven't exactly played stellar ball against them in the regular season over the past couple of years.

What would you have told a Philly fan saying in late June "I don't know why we should be afraid of the Braves. We beat them in the playoffs last year" ?

Unless Charlie retires.

A month ago, I thought the Braves would likely move on at the end of season. Now, I'm not so sure. Obviously you can't let 1 little hot streak determine these decisions, but aside from a little hiccup after the Break, Charlie has been his normal mid rotation anchor. For 1 year and 20 million, it would be hard to move on and find someone you are more confident in.

They just beat up on Merrill Kelly and Zac Gallen. Dodgers are on a very hot streak right now. As i said, i will GLADLY take a split and go on with the season. Braves also routinely play like **** in Los Angeles.

We generally play like **** in LA, like it's realllly bad when we play there. I cant even remember the last time we won a regular season series in LA was. I'd say we have the better roster but the Dodgers offense is one of the best in baseball, and they've been clicking the past couple months.

HFA is pretty damn important given if that series happened, you'd want the final 2 games at home. We are throwing our top 4 starters so anything less than a split would be a dissapointment.

I'm aligned that HFA is extremely important, but I'm not really concerned about playing well in LA - this season has been different than the teams of the last few years. These boys are much better.

I am not worried about what prior teams have done in the past. Players have changed..This team is going to curb stomp them into submission this weekend and I am going to freaking miss it.

but as insurance, I plan on betting on the Dodgers to win every game. With how bad I am at betting, that is pretty much a sure thing the Braves will sweep them.

Would love to see us sweep them but i highly, highly doubt that happens. Like i've said, give me a split and i am #good.

We also have Wright back next year, with Soroka for 2 more years with AA playing the clock game. So you'd have Fried/Morton/Elder/Soroka/Wright/Strider for 5 spots. Maybe AA sells high on Elder this winter? But food for thought, also have Waldrep coming up quick with AJSS, etc.

I could only see Elder moved in a trade for a starting pitcher since SP depth is our biggest weakness. You basically need 8 solid starting pitchers options at the beginning of the year to make it through the whole season. Pre-arb Bryce Elder is a valuable asset for that reason.
