Minor League Thread

I mean f your video man- don’t get hyped up about a good pitcher until stat cast allows you to

I’ve seen countless little stories like this about minor league arms on this very board, and they came up to the MLB level and the statcast data proved them to be mediocre. And then they were mediocre pitchers just like the statcast data suggested.

Definitely hoping Waldrep isn’t mediocre, and the statcast data will tell us that. I wish we had it for minor league games. He’s certainly the next interesting guy I’m excited to analyze.

I don't know, I'm a prospect hype man but I don't recall too many TOR type posts. But I also use an eye test and not too many statcast ratings(obviously). If I've hyperbolized a pitcher or prospect, guilty. But the fun in watching these guys is the potential. I think we will all like what Waldreps statcast data looks like. Hoping anyway.

Is there Statcast data from the college level? Waldrep pitched in a lot of high-quality SEC stadia and in front of TV cameras.

Waldrep promoted to Mississippi. Wonder if AA wants to get a look at him as a potential bullpen piece in the playoffs.

I don't think he will be on the 40 man by sept 1st. and we really don't have room for him on the roster with Lee and Jessie coming back. McEww will have to be 'hurt' when those 2 come back.

Does Waldrep have to be on the 40 man by a specific date? I thought they just had to be in the organization than they would be eligible. No way Dylan Lee was on the 40 man on September 1st back in 2021.

As long as he's in the organization by the 31st there are loopholes that would allow him to pitch. It basically boils down to him replacing an injured pitcher and being added to the 40 man roster.

NICE!!!

Has anyone mentioned the Braves 6th round pick they went overslot for this year Lucas Braun

His last start Sunday for Augusta…

5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 1.04 ERA

Per Battery Power…

This was a true pitchers duel that saw a combined one run and seven hits between the two teams. Each team only had two walks as well, a small number for this level of the minor leagues. The Augusta side wasn’t unexpected as Lucas Braun was on the hill, and he’s dominated since making his pro debut. Braun scattered four hits and a walk while allowing the game’s lone run over five innings, and struck out six. This saw him bring his ERA to 1.04 and WHIP to 0.92 across the 17.1 innings he’s pitched for Augusta.

That 23 draft could be a special one. Waldrep, Kuehler, Hackenberg, Cebellos, Braun, Bauumann plus Drake who they went overslot for has intriguing tools.
