Lara struck out two more and then got pulled at 88 pitches. 4.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 12 K. One hit and walk came in the first inning, only one walk allowed after that.

20-year-old at High A, likely closing out a really strong year for him.

International guys are always fun because they sometimes just come out of nowhere.

Totally agree. It seems like there’s one every year - sometimes they become something interesting, sometimes they flame out. I think it was the Munoz brothers back in 2021, then Royber Salinas last year. Lara definitely seems like the breakout international guy this year.

Yes he did. That post was back on 9/9… he had a rough start. Something like 3 innings, 2 ER and 3 walks

He's starting again this Saturday, and the Double A season ends the next day. So we'll find out by Tuesday if he has any shot at the playoff roster - they'd have to move him to Gwinnett then since their season continues.

I'd imagine his season is probably over after Saturday though. He's at 122.2 innings this year between his 101.2 innings at Florida and 21 in the Braves org.

If he has a good outing Saturday I could see him going to Gwinnett to help out and start the season there next year. Unless there is an injury in the bp I’d guess he stays down till next year.

Yeah... if he had come up to AA and just dominated I could see a possibility... right now I don't see room for him, so I don't see why we'd try to stunt his development

Pushing Waldrep up to the bigs this year would be silly, especially since he's shown the same control issues he showed in college. Let him finish out the season in the minors, give him a nice pat on the back for a job well done, then send him home to rest for the winter.

While I agree he shouldn't see mlb, I don't know that Mississippi is the best place for him with that experimental baseball they use. I think a last start is a good thing for him. Perhaps AAA next year.

Waldrep...
4.1 ip 4 h 0 er 3 bb 5 k

Dodd...
4.0 ip 1 h 0 er 2 bb 7 k

Nice outing from Dodd Vs a good team

Are we thinking Waldrep’s split finger is going to be a secret weapon out of the pen in October?

I think we have enough from the bullpen. Waldrep would be the emergency starter incase Morton or Fried cant go.

I guess we will know soon enough what the Braves intentions are. Winans will audition today. Maybe Waldrep next week?
Mort out for first round.

Dont think it's been said how long Morton is out but we only need a 3rd starter in the 1st round given the days off/schedule. If we play Philly, i would much rather have Morton pitch in CBP than Elder. Nevermind, just saw he's out for the NLDS, brutal.
