I think it's fair to wonder if Gaetz is doing this out of principle or out of his own self-interest. Immediately using this to start raising money is an odd move, especially considering he's not interested in the role. We all know he wants to run for Gov of Fl.

Gaetz led the charge to establish rules that would have made McCarthys speakership fantastic. Was he operating out of his own self-interest then?

But what's next? Assuming that MAGA/GOP don't agree... the next speaker will require Dem votes. That will mean they make concessions with Dems.

We have a Marxist party that is in lockstep to the destroy the country and we have another party where 90% of the elected representatives don't serve the interest of their constituency. The 2024 election will illuminate the fate of hte country.

Appears to me Massie is taking the practical approach - "McCarthy isn't good but he's been better than the previous, and the next alternative is very likely to get worse."

Amash is taking the purist approach as he often does... "McCarthy isn't good so we need to remove him and get a good speaker"

When he was President, he had ultimate veto power. He never used it. He signed every major spending bill that was put on his desk.
