lol what
Jeter was good. He is top 10 all time in hits which means something. But he is immortalized because he played on great teams... He is overrated to be fair. but still a very very good player.

Jeter- 73.0 Career WAR
Chipper- 84.6 Career WAR
Chipper had a double digit lead over Jeter for their careers but I'll guarantee you that most people consider Jeter the better player.
Another player for reference:
Andruw- 67 Career WAR
Jeter only had 6 more career WAR than Andruw yet Jeter is considered one of the all time greats and Andruw can't make it into the HOF.

If Jeter had played in Atlanta, Houston, Colorado, Milwaukee, etc. he would have gotten into the Hall, but quite possibly not on the first ballot. And he wouldn't be on half the commercials that air during MLB broadcasts nine years after his final game.
Conversely, if Andruw had spent the bulk of his career as a Yankee and put up identical numbers he would be in the HoF right now, and would probably be on all those commercials.

I get himn being overrated because of him being on the Yankees. But him not winning anything on a real team makes no sense.
He would be a 1st ballot HOFer. 3K hits and 70+ WAR at SS would make sure of that.
The rest is just a popularity contest stuff.
Re: Andruw. Yes, if Andruw won a couple of rings and had post season historics he likely would be in already. Whether that would be in New York or if he did it in Atlanta. That's less of a New York thing and more of a player getting bumped for what they do in the playoffs. See Jack Morris, Ortiz, etc.
He probably would have deserved it with those numbers. Maybe he would have been a first ballot guy. He definitely wouldn't have gotten the percentage of votes that he did.
I think we probably make too much of how many votes a surefire hall of famer receives, but it still irks me that Riviera was the first unanimous guy. You're telling me that he deserved to get every vote, yet Aaron, Mays, Maddux, Griffey, and a host of others didn't as well? The New York bias is real.
The Yankees are cheaters. Cheated their whole existence so I refuse to recognize them as legitimate. Cheating isnt just breaking the rules its manipulating the rules to give yourself a ridiculous competitive advantage then doing everything they can to maintain it. They are the Browns of MLB propped up by their payroll. Only recently has it changed and they havent won **** since.
It is real. But I don't really care that Rivera got more vtes than Maddux or Griffey. Doesn't effect me in any way.
Jeter is deserved 1st ballot HOFer and one of the best SS's of all time.
Considering that the runner was actually safe, I’m not sure why you would think he’d be out.
I have not seen any evidence that shows that Giambi was safe. Posada most likely grazed his pants with the tag. Also, the throw from the right fielder was dying on the infield, so it's unlikely that it would have gotten to the plate in time.
It was a great play. But it wasn't better than Riley's play, which was more difficult athletically. Jeter's play gets the accolades because he was so far out of position. And because he's Jeter.
