GDT 10/12/23: Braves @ Phillies - NLDS Game 4 Striders Revenge

I’d like to see the numbers on the amount of times a team has won an NLDS after losing both Game 1 and Game 3. I bet it’s less than the amount that have come back from a 0-2 deficit. Has it ever happened?

First time for everything !

And this team has done a LOT of things for the first time this season!

1-2 down losing those specific games who advanced
2021 Dodgers
2019 Nats
2011 Cardinals

0-2
Giants 2012

handful of teams came back from 1-2 down but usually they lost games 2-3.

Awesome. This whole series has been an exercise in making our team and fan base look as bad as possible. Just embarrassing.

We’ve been a very cocky team all year. And I have no problem with it.. it’s been fun! But the downside is everyone celebrates your failure when it happens

I just realized I specified NLDS and I didn’t mean to. I just meant division series as a whole.

I thought the Yankees also came back from down 0-2 to the A’s in 2001.

I was only selecting NLDS as that was what you said, if we expanded it to the AL too

1-2 with 1 and 3 losses
2015 Royals
2001 Mariners
97 Indians

0-2
2017 Yankees
2015 Jays
2003 Red Sox
2001 Yankees
1999 Red Sox
95 Mariners

AL certainly had more of those results. But generally speaking more teams have come back from being down 1-2 than 0-2 for sure.

Not exactly ideal

That won’t last just like our offense won’t continue to slump.

But they’re coming off as soft this series.

I don’t usually put any stock into things like momentum and playing scared or not trying. But this team certainly has the look of being shook by the Phillies. I thought the game 2 win was going to make them surge, but they went right back to sleepwalking.

IF (capitalized) we lose this series, how much blame--if any--would you put on the front office for its relative flaccidity at the trade deadline?

Going limp at the worst times

Boys it's gonna get ugly tonight but before it does and we all cast off early, around the 5th or so, I want y'all to know it's been a great season and I have enjoyed y'all getting to put up with my bitching and pessimism...We have seriously have the best Braves talk resource around! Cheers boys!

Need to get a lead and hold onto it, obviously. If this team gets down early tonight I could see the offense pressing and making more terrible at bats.

Momentum is only as good as the next days starting pitcher and well you know….you saw what happened.

I don't think the Braves are intimidated by the Phillies. I think they came out of the gate cold and that's what shook them. They were immediately put under pressure to snap out of it and started playing super tight.

The bye is a severe disadvantage. A couple years in we can pretty much definitively say that now.

According to Philly local radio they're going to play the video of Strider talking about not wanting fans in the stands before he takes the mound tonight. Was a soft city. Searching desperately for fake juice.

That team and that city deserve each other.
