Election denialism in all its lovely manifestations continues to be a big loser in court. At least Finchem and Lake have confined themselves to legal avenues so far.
Arizona Republicans Kari Lake and Mark Finchem — who both ran in 2022 for Governor and Secretary of State, respectively — just had their case challenging the use of vote tabulation machines dismissed by a federal appeals court.
The Arizona Daily Star reported that a three-judge panel for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the case brought by Lake and Finchem lacked any evidence to back up claims that their constitutional rights were violated. Notably, the panel stated in an 11-page opinion that both Lake and Finchem "conceded that their arguments were limited to potential future hacking, and not based on any past harm."

If it were up to Gaetz, Scalise and Emmer would have been speaker.
There was no strategy here. The opposite, actually. He got bailed out by the Republicans who didn't go along with his preference
But this guy appears better than Gaetz's preferred option of Scalise, and so I'm very hopeful he's a killer upgrade

Gaetz had us very close to a temp speaker until January... that was the plan until Jim Jordan tried again.
Gaetz supported downgrades from McCarthy, with his top choice being Scalise.
Gaetz and the cult blasted republicans for not voting along with Scalise. That act actually saved Gaetz by eventually getting to an upgrade.
Gaetz got bailed out. But my limited knowledge of Johnson does look like an upgrade to me. So better to lucky than good
