For ****’s sake, if you don’t believe there’s also a major push by some right now to demonize all Muslims over what’s happening in Israel right now, you’re a ****ing idiot. It’s unequivocally bad that anybody is justifying the death of innocent Israelis at the hands of Hamas, and that there’s been a wave of genuine Antisemitism as a result of this situation. But you need to extend that same empathy toward people like the 6-year-old boy who was murdered due to Islamophobia last month or the countless dead Palestinian civilians.
You shouldn’t go overboard like some and claim Hamas is actually good, or tear down photos of Jewish hostages, and you certainly shouldn’t use the situation to advance a case against Jewish people in general as has happened. But the societal rot here absolutely goes both ways. Innocent Muslims are being dehumanized just as Jewish people are. Condemn all the violence, not just that which goes against your “side” in the conflict.
