Elder is fine as a 6th or 7th starter. He’s not fine if he’s the guy you pencil going into your rotation. He’s also not fine if he’s your #7 starter who is likely to be your # 3 starter at some point during the year.

Strider hitting 93 with the fastball. This is very depressing stuff. I’d like for him to become maybe a 5 and dive pitcher who can maybe air it out for 75 pitches with elite results than a guy trying to throw 100 pitches with average stuff.

Ok…we got something here. He’s making hitters look absolutely silly with that splitter. The addition of the cutter and sinker have made him a lot less predictable. Improved command allows him to get to his splitter. This is a very nice and surprising development.

Lots of potential. He’s got command and stuff. I’m usually a little underwhelmed when I see the guys we call up but I can see it with him. That said he’s not ready.

There is a lot of bad pitchers who throw 95 as well. 95 is different for every pitcher. Just because another pitcher succeeds with less velo doesn’t mean Strider should.

Strider is terrible. The stuff went from elite to average.

Strider is trash if he can’t throw upper 90s. No one respects the fastball. That was a bad offense that made him look terrible. The stuff was not good.

AJSS hung so many splitters yesterday. He was more lucky than good. Waiting for the command to click for him and he could take off. Where was the fastball velo? It’s so inconsistent with him.
