That’s just describing the companies that won under our system. They didn’t get this way by becoming global, they became global by being this way.

American corporations are generally the biggest and most predatory of the bunch. It’s not foreign influence that’s driving a suppression of wages or benefits for American workers. Our own corporate overlords are plenty capable of not letting genuine wealth trickle down.

If taxing the ever-loving piss out of businesses and taking a financial stake in major companies isn’t leftist in nature, I don’t know what is. The only Democrat supporting Trump’s economic policies is Bernie Sanders. Trump keeps telling companies to stop chasing profits. Up is down, down is up.

Believe it or not, these are not radical new ideas Donald Trump is implementing to usher in conservative economic policy.

I’m not the most economically illiterate leftist out there, but I can tell you definitively from personal experience that you’re wrong about them not taking the left to task for its policies.

The US is not just some magical entity, it’s the things we have done that got us here, good and bad. One of the good things has been relatively free trade compared to some other nations which led to the economy we have that you point to as a strength for us on the global stage.

The other thing I don’t see MAGA appropriately grappling with is what happens as international demand plummets. Even if countries are making concessions on their already low tariff rates on our exports, there will be less demand both from anti-American sentiment abroad and their lack of business...

These would all be economic powerhouses with their excellent trade policies, they just lack that American spirit. But surely their citizens will all be thankful in 30 years when the domestic investment turns into new jobs.
