Economics Thread

Go look back at what I’ve posted for a long time. It’s never that teh consumer won’t pay higher prices.
Yes. Usually you do. Kudos to you (less so Lutnick Bessent and Trump). But in your words it’s “luxury goods” inflation like hammers

And a non so inconsequential consequence of this flippant tariff policy is pushing Modi and India into the arms of China (just because they do business with Russia).

Wish we didn’t have to cater to the old NATO guard because that’s driving a wedge in the potential great relationship.
Ultimate preference is for Europe to drop their insanity and deport the third world barbarians and not be social media tyrants. I’d of course side with that Europe first. That’s not what we have so I’d rather realign with Russia/india.

I didn’t keep up with the news. To PlayStation increase their prices for all countries?

Funny you asked. They actually announced this week discounted PlaysStations in China for the rest of the year

Where else? I’m sure Xi had nothing to do with that right? Or do you Sony did this out of the goodness of their heart?

I’m sure Xi had nothing to do with the price decrease as a trade off of this.

I guess you now are happy with some government intervention?

Whatever direction the US is headed with Trump’s trade policy, is infinitely better than living in a communist country that welds you inside your home and cuts off your internet at night so kids don’t play video games too late.

I think Sony is in the business of maximizing profits for shareholders.

Sure and Xi Probabaly said if you leave you can’t sell to our market without a discount for the optics of what you’re pushing right now.

This is all political from all sides.

The direction we are headed towards is ensuring we don’t have a communist takeover.

Speaking of china... did anyone ever figure out what we got in that trade deal that keeps getting pause and extended?

And what about tiktok

As long as you support free trade in its current form you simply can’t be upset at our welfare state. You either pick one or admit that you really don’t care about those thst can’t keep up.
If you support short-term pain to break away from free trade, you absolutely cannot be upset at our welfare state because jobs don’t just magically sprout up for every person affected by tariffs increasing our prices.

But as part of the full economic plan Trump has unleashed that actually has happened. Americans are gaining jobs and we are taking away welfare from those that should have never had it.

Not remotely enough jobs have been added domestically to account for the lost buying power of all Americans and the significant disruptions to many small businesses.

(Whispers that manufacturing jobs have declined every month since May, or better known as after liberation day)

But thethe can just say stuff as if its true

This isn’t inflation as inflation is a one way exchange. The idea of tariffs is there is give and take and it’s distributed amongst all classes of people and not just asset holders.
lol, what? If the government prints a bunch of money or taxes us to pay for Medicaid for more people, prices are going up in exchange for services being provided. Tariffs are inflationary in the same exact way. You simply cannot disconnect tariffs from inflation because the intended beneficiaries of the tariffs differ from other taxation or other forms of inflationary policy.

Super exciting couple of months in the healthcare industry, though!

Yes it doesn’t happen overnight. The first wave of employment is removing the incentives to hire non Americans. Next will be the wave of increased manufacturing.

The companies building the robots to build our toasters have done quite well since liberation day
