GDT 8-31: Waldrep on Sunday Night Baseball

Lmao..let that shit go State. 😂😂😂
Granted, I'm like Billy Joel and go to extremes, but in this case, I'm right. Ozuna is almost certainly gonna be gone, so just put Acuna in the DH spot to save him knees and Achilles as much as possible. He isn't even a good fielder, so we lose nothing by doing this.

That's better though than..."Trade him.". That bullsh.. ain't flying...

It is possible that two ACL's have totally wrecked his range. He's currently at -10 OAA in range and in the bottom 1% of all players. I don't think he's that bad personally and will be a bit better next season. But yes Acuna should be the primary DH next season but I doubt he wants to do that. Best case scenario imo is to get another OF and just rotate the corner OFs through the DH spot.

Acuna has been a negative defender since his first knee rebuild, and he’s probably only going to get worse.

As always, the vast majority of his value lies in his ability to get on base 40% of the time and hit baseballs 110+ mph. Nothing else matters, and him being out of the lineup for any period of time completely negates any added value he provides on the bases or in the field.

Putting him at DH has been the correct answer for years, it’s the correct answer now, and it’s the correct answer for the rest of his contract. This isn’t some new development, and I’ve been saying it since it became the correct answer.

I think Acunas defense is a buisness decision. If he hits his FA year watch him be suddenly a decent fielder to fool one of the dumb teams. Much like Soto did.
