Thomas Matthew Crooks was also a very bright kid. As was Luigi Mangione. Not that there is a pattern. These kinds of crimes don't seem to fit a pattern. It just seems more of a shame when people with a lot of potential do things like this.

I’m sure he found like minded people on campus as well and I’d think that type of communication offline really exacerbates the likelihood someone will move forward with action.

Just really sad. Mom’s Facebook isn’t locked and people are sharing a lot of pictures. It’s pretty evident she was very loving and involved in his life. What a horror for them to experience (kudos to the dad for turning his son in to law enforcement and turning down the reward money).
 
Just hits so hard about the dad turning him in - You want to let your kids eventually spread their wings and do your best to guide them. Even then, the world is a crazy place now.
 
A lot of people, young and old, struggle to find their way in the world. A few end up in a really dark place. I wouldn't blame his parents or community or any school he went to.
