Second ('Third') Trump Presidency Thread

AI Is actually worthless in it's current state.

I don't care if the government wants to work on weaponizing/modernizing AI in the sense of practical non-consumer uses. What OPEN-AI etc. are providing is garbage that is not worth the water it consumes.
As much as I do not think we should be taking stakes in companies, I do wonder if we’d have to somehow take over operations of AI development if we needed to continue in the race against China and the public sector couldn’t deliver. If OpenAI thinks it has a guaranteed bailout, I think it’s just going to encourage them to take risks that aren’t necessarily in the public or even necessarily shareholder’s best interest. But we almost need to have access to whichever model is advancing fastest. So I’m not sure how we navigate that outcome if it came to pass.

Don’t tell BL that or he won’t have anything to post

I'm feeling the effects of the shut down now: our flight was canceled in Orlando, and it was after we checked our bags. I'm now working on hour 2 waiting for my bags, and I'm gonna have to drive 9.5 hours today

Sucks. But what's with the jetsetter lifestyle.
We love to go. I've basically been on a 15-day vacation now: 1 day in Nola before flying out of Nola to Boston for 7 days, got home for 1 day, and flew out from Jackson to Orlando on Monday. This trip was actually paid for by my employer... there's a glass conference here this week. We attended the glass show on Tuesday, which was capped off by a storefront vendor reserving a restaurant with dueling pianos and an open bar. Universal studios for 2 days and magic-Celtics last night. All on the company dime. It was awesome, but I am exhausted, and today is becoming a nightmare.

Orlando has really grown up. Its a real city now. Nothing like a trip on a travel expense. Sorry it is ending on a sour note.

I don’t think it’s tyrannical or illegal or whatever adjective might be used by the left for the Trump Administration to do any of this, but I can’t help but wonder if fighting all the way to SCOTUS to not pay out SNAP funding that already exists is a great thing politically to advertise as advancing Trump’s Agenda.
