I’m pretty shocked at the margin in NJ’s race. I figured Sherrill would probably win, but it would be a 2-3 point contest in either direction, similar to 2021. Instead, she put belt to ass.

To be very fair, I’m guessing 4 years ago the New York Mayoral race didn’t feature two other prominent Democrats.speaking of reflection...i think this is a good point
candidate quality matters but not always enough in a wave election....(R) had a decent candidate for governor in NJ and came closer than in Virginia...(D) had a bad candidate for AG in VA but he won
victory has a thousand fathers, defeat is but an orphan and all that jazz
yeah...the last NY race has a completely different dynamic...the lefty candidates did not do well in the primary...it ended up coming down to Adams and Kathryn Garcia, a competent centrist. candidate...it's a shame Garcia didn't winTo be very fair, I’m guessing 4 years ago the New York Mayoral race didn’t feature two other prominent Democrats.
It doesnt matter, anyone who was aware of what he said and still voted for him to be the tip law enforcement enforcer of the state either has no moral standards at all, or endorses how he thinks. My point was that Dems won by such high margins in VA that Jones was carried across the finish line and that Republicans pushing this as a sign that voters are simply rewarding political violence might want to take a step back and ponder why they also lost all those other races.
Turns out DIY dads that buy luxury goods like hammers, parents that want to buy more than 1 doll for their kids, millennials that buy PlayStations all vote.
or maybe they listened to the healthcare experts who told them persistent 3%(and rising) inflation isn’t good.
Or didn’t enjoy the last 9 months flirting with hot wars in Iran and Venezuela (or invading Greenland).
Or dealing with the anxiety from the president unilaterally tariffing another country over commercials.
(other things like shitposting from government accounts, crypto rug pulls, infighting with the groypers, etc don’t help either)
Sending the military into cities and ICE arresting Latino citizens doesn’t help

The sad reality is a significant part of the dem base has demonstrated that they are alligned with how he thinks
In 2021 NYC elected a former cop chiefIn the grand scheme of things, this is not an unusual swing against the party in the WH.
In 2021, the governors' races in both VA and NJ swung 13 points toward (R) relative to Biden's vote share in 2020.
In 2025, the swings toward (D) were 9 points in VA and 7 points in NJ relative to Harris' vote share.
Sure, whatever. But I think you’re also likely overestimating the percentage of people who knew about Jones’ texts and specifically voted for him with that knowledge in an election where the Dems absolutely obliterated the Republicans overall. It doesnt matter, anyone who was aware of what he said and still voted for him to be the tip law enforcement enforcer of the state either has no moral standards at all, or endorses how he thinks.
