2025-2026 offseason thread

Super weird trade by Baltimore. They need pitching pretty badly and Rodriguez is super cheap and was very good when he was last healthy.

Unless his injury issues are worse than we know about, this seems like a massive win for the Angels.

I read where Rodriguez's injury last year is nearly always a precursor to needing TJS shortly after... so this is probably a pretty significant gamble but not too bad only giving up Ward.

Per Bowman, the Braves have interest in Mauricio Dubon. I kinda like it. In his last year of arbitration (MLBTR projects at $5.8m), so acquisition cost would be reasonable.

There’s always a chance the Braves could try to fill their shortstop void via trade. They have at least inquired about the possibility of acquiring two-time Gold Glove Award winner Mauricio Dubon from the Astros. Dubon has a .677 OPS over the past three seasons combined. He might be an offensive upgrade over Nick Allen.

I really don't want to go for a SS upgrade that "might be an offensive upgrade over Nick Allen"
IMO, this was a poor choice of words by Bowman (who knew, right?). Allen has a career wRC+ of 53. I mean, that's mind-boggling. Dubon's career wRC+ is 85. Significant difference.

Lol this team’s payroll is not going up by $60+m…almost definitely going to be another disappointing offseason.
Probably not, but with no SS options out there, I'll hold off until I see more. May have no choice, but to roll with a guy like this

Kim is literally right there. Even if it cost something crazy like 3/60, it's more than worth it. Dubon is barely an upgrade.

Dubon would finally give us a very good depth piece if that is what we are looking for. But if he is our starting SS, AA failed this off-season.

this times a million. AA might have to over pay to actually get a good player... shocker... but instead will settle for the better deal and we will get to watch another crappy hitter get 500+ ABs this year.

I mean the braves need to upgrade more than SS. Giving Kim a contract that's too rich may hurt more than it helps. Look, I hate AA, but damn, he hasn't made one move, and there's already talk of an offseason failure. That kinda jumping to conclusions makes even me blush.
