2025-2026 offseason thread

Passan just said the Braves may be the best fit for Bichette bc they can move him to 2b after Albies deal is up.
This is sound logic, but I seriously doubt they give any FA $200M+.

But I'm in the group that thinks AA has much less to spend than we are all hoping, so maybe he has a ton of cash and can shop outside the bargain aisle.

Tonight at 6 EST is the deadline to set the 40-man for Rule 5 purposes. Mayo and Callis have Ian Mejia as the Braves "toughest" 40-man decision. I won't be upset if they don't protect him. I'm assuming Burkhalter will be added though.

The Braves nabbed Mejia as an 11th-round pick out of New Mexico State in 2022 and he’s coming off a very good year, spent almost entirely with Double-A Mississippi, in which he finished third in the Southern League in ERA (2.62) and WHIP (1.06). He’s also topped 120 innings in each of his three seasons, but he doesn’t miss a ton of bats and throws his slider more than his fringy fastball, giving him a lower ceiling.

Bichette is prettty young. He's probably the guy it would make most sense to sign if you were doing a premium free agent thing.

The bat still plays at second and you could probably have a whole late inning plan in place for a year. ... if the defense really bothered you.
