This is only gonna expedite all balls and strikes calls being called by ABS and just have an umpire giving the calls behind the plate via ear piece.

This is why MLB didn't fully implement it. They want fans to see they've given the human element more tried and leeway.

Tennis adopted hawkeye and it worked as just players challenging close calls and such.

Now that the game grew in $$$ the major tournaments have now eliminated all line judges and use hawkeye for every call.

MLB has billions more investing in the same tech as hawkeye. The switch to robocalls will be much sooner than we think.
 
Two days of ABS does show me how close these pitches actually are (wouldve been nice in 1997)

Curious if we see an increase in offense this year as the zone is now officially the zone which really wont benefit pitchers at all.
 
With Hoerner and Luzardo signing extensions the 2027 free agent class looks really bad outside of Skubal. Chisholm and Fredy Peralta being the next best. Slim pickens.

I think teams are going to become strategic with it (except the Braves who will be out of challenges by the Acuna’s 2nd at bat every game) that it at most impacts 1 or 2 calls a game.

But I think once they fully automate balls and strikes that your theory will be proven correct.
 
Tom Glavine was putting up 4 WAR seasons at age 39 after they had Questec in place and the strike zone changed as a result. If the strike zone had changed earlier, he would have changed along with it because he was a tremendous pitcher.

100%. Glavine had a 80 WAR career. He ranked 9th in ERA and 3rd in innings pitched from 1987 to 2008.

When you pitch 21 seasons, ERA is a better reflection of your ability than the predictive metrics.
