It is absolute madness to trade for any expiring contracts when we are not only under .500, but have not been over .500 all year. ANY moves made should have next years team in mind. We would have next to zero chance of beating the Dodgers (even if we made the playoffs), and there is under a 15%...

For the record, I hope we sell this year, but was VERY disappointed that we did not buy last year…likely cost us a WS appearance (at the least). The Padres are a great example of being aggressive and still maintaining a good farm system. Just think of all the big trades they have made from last...

Padres are said to be close in Kimbrel also.

There is someone that would likely take Ender’s salary for the rest of the year at the deadline. He is still a nice defensive replacement for a contender. I doubt that happens because they don’t want to start someone like Water’s clock just to get rid of Ender.

It’s pretty low risk either way. If the Braves are horrible the next few weeks, he could always be moved for a comparable prospect that we gave up. I doubt that happens either way. I think this is more about Ozuna insurance for next year (that just happens to help us this year).

The Padres have traded for just about every pitcher on the market. They still have a better farm system than we do. Go figure.

We aren’t trying to rebuild of course, but the right injuries could force a mini roster rebuild. Heck…season isn’t even over yet. Hopefully everyone else stays healthy.
