    Slippy's Early Opening Day Projections

Yeah. Cairo is a Rule V pick. If he doesn't stick all year on the team we have to send him back. Allen could probably be kept if he's DFA. They are both glove first SS. Their bats are both questionable at best but Cairo has a pretty good on base ability.

    Slippy's Early Opening Day Projections

Marisnick can play a good CF. White can play CF as well. We made a sizable investment in Kelenic and the best way to maximize that investment is to make sure he's getting everyday ABs. He's not gonna play ahead of Acuna Harris Profar Olson or Ozuna. Unless we think Snit is giving everyone in...

    Slippy's Early Opening Day Projections

I think that would be a mistake. Kelenic isn't going to play with Profar Harris and Acuna healthy. It would be better to stop his clock and have him play everyday in AAA. If there's an injury Kelenic can easily be called back up.

The only way that happens is if Tromp gets injured. Leon is on a minor league deal and can be sent to AAA. Tromp is out of options on the 40 man. Murphy should be back by May and we need to have organizational catching depth.

    Slippy's Early Opening Day Projections

I agree that the back of the rotation and the bench are shaky. The positive of the current roster construction is that it's not currently maxed out. If things go well Strider's return would punt the 5th starter. Baldwin coming up would dump Tromp and provide a lefty bat for the bench. A trade...

TDA missed a lot of time in 2023. Murphy missed a lot of time last year. I think maintaining our depth behind the plate is the most important factor to consider.

Christian Cairo. He's a Rule V pick from the Guardians

Best case scenario he'd be the 7th best arm in the pen behind those 4 Iggy of course and Holmes

Elder vs AJSS was really a toss up for me. At the end of the day I decided on Elder because I didn't want to bring AJSS up with the intention of just sending him back down. AJSS definitely has the higher upside though.

I don't think anyone should discount the risk of relying on Strider this year. Assuming he comes back it is unreasonable to expect him to return to his ace level. That being said while both repair the UCL the Internal Brace and TJS seem to be 2 fairly different procedures. TJS involves...

Kelenic is more likely going to be sent to AAA if everyone is healthy when Acuna returns. He's a long term investment and we'd be better served by stopping his service time while letting him get ABs everyday rather than rotting on the bench.

    Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

I think it's all about threading the needle. CBT payroll is calculated at the end of the year not the beginning. I expect we're not looking at payroll getting in the way of competing but still being able to get back under the tax if we're not having a competitive year. If things go wrong...

I disagree. I think we're looking for a SP and there's a couple of potential difference makers on the board. A SP would also allow us to push Holmes down to the bullpen which would be a big upgrade

    Bravos sign Profar.

Profar plays bad defense. Soler plays unplayable defense.
