GDT 8-9: Marlins at Braves Doubleheader Thread

Here’s a link to the movement numbers on the 28 splitters Waldrep threw yesterday. I’ll leave it to the reader to decide how many of them were “deadly”...

    2025-2026 offseason thread

The Murphy trade idea always hinged on some team with a surplus SS or OF or SP situation being able to match their area of strength with the Braves. Nobody, and I mean literally nobody, is advocating for trading Murphy for anything other than an MLB contributor controlled for at least as long as...

GDT 8-10: Marlins at Braves; Game 5; No Drake

I feel like Bellinger is a very good realistic fit for this roster. Hopefully he can keep up that low exit velocity success if the Braves sign him.

GDT 8-9: Marlins at Braves Doubleheader Thread

I mean, there are scenarios where the Braves don’t have much money to spend and running Ozuna back as the primary DH makes sense at a certain price point. Especially if Murphy is traded for a SS. Iggy is still a decent arm that fits at the right price.

GDT 8-9: Marlins at Braves Doubleheader Thread

I came here just to post this exact sentiment. There’s no way teams didn’t want that bat in their lineup.

GDT 8-9: Marlins at Braves Doubleheader Thread

Die on a hill? Do you think I want one of the top picks for my favorite team to be terrible? I’m simply relaying the actual movement data on his pitches. The average movement is not good, despite individual instances of the pitch being good. That’s a fact anyone with internet access can look up...

Nice to see profar racking up some walks.

I can’t remember what I saw with his stuff, but it makes sense he might have more success with a sinker than a 4 seamer he can’t spin and get enough rise.

Did Waldrep’s split look more consistent? If he can throw the version of it that sinks 2” more consistently it would be a massively good development.

MLBTR just posted their August FA power ranking: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/08/2025-26-mlb-free-agent-power-rankings-august-edition.html The Braves will have a Top 10 pick in the draft, which will be protected in the event they sign a FA with a QO attached. After resetting the tax...

    GDT 8-8: Elder Night

He’s going to argue just to argue. Everyone understands that people buying tickets and not showing up is a bad thing.

    GDT 8-8: Elder Night

I’m sure there’s an excuse. Too warm. Too dark. Too tired from school. Too perfect weather. The actual reason is the team is too shitty.

    GDT 8-7: Who’s On Third?

With Acuna not in the lineup doing stupid thing Albies had to pick up the slack.

    GDT 8-7: Who’s On Third?

Don’t worry everyone. The Braves are sending 4 bench bats to the plate in the 2nd to help match that marlins explosion.

What’s the excuse for the poor attendance tonight?

GDT 8-6: Drake Baldwin's Day Off

This Collins guy has a pretty unsustainable line, whereas Baldwin has been legit. Once that BABIP regresses I expect their offensive lines to end up being very similar. If that’s the case, the catcher wins easily. Nobody should be making a ranking decision based upon a 0.5 WAR difference.

GDT 8-5: Brewers at Braves; Game 2

The stats the players accumulate, and the wins the organization generate aren't yours, so why do you care how the team performs? It should go without saying, but as fans of the team we want the team to perform well. Part of that performance is how the FO navigates things like a minor sell off...

GDT 8-5: Brewers at Braves; Game 2

AA went from being a top 5 GM to below average over the course of the last ~1.5 years. It’s impossible for someone to just get dumber, so it’s hard to understand what happened. But just 2 offseasons ago he’s the guy who pulled off the Sale/Lopez/Kekenic trio of moves with a 2/3 success rate...
