NL Rookie of the Year Watch

More positive movement overnight: Baldwin from +100 to -110 Horton from +125 to +130 Collins from +400 to +500 Tonight is a big game for the Rookie of the Year. We face Horton tonight and he has four more starts remaining this season after that - and next one will also be against us. Would be...

    Tankathon draft pick watch

Solid night for the tank last night. Braves lose and wins for the Pirates and Orioles. Teams from picks 2-6 are all pretty close together. The White Sox have the top odds locked up at this point. Then the order goes: T-2. Pittsburgh (62-77) T-2. Atlanta (62-77) 4. Minnesota (0.5 GB) 5...

    2025-2026 offseason thread

My QO theory is down the drain. MLB site says it's only possible if "a player spent the entire season on that team’s roster (in-season acquisitions are ineligible)." So trades aren't the only way the QO gets dropped.

I hadn't thought about that, but it technically was a waiver claim and not a trade. Can you get a QO if you were a waiver claim? I can't imagine that situation has ever come up during the QO era (and almost certainly won't come up here), but it's an interesting question.

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

I would be pretty surprised if they sign a QO player in that situation just based on history. The only QO guy AA has signed here was Will Smith unless I'm forgetting someone. Now that it would cost a pick in the late 20s (assuming Baldwin does win ROY)? I would be surprised.

I don't see why not since it would make him a free agent. But I'm not 100% sure on that.

    2025-2026 offseason thread

I know this is unlikely, but if your scenario happens, I wonder if we would consider a qualifying offer on him. It was worth $21 million last offseason, and if we're already willing to spend $16 million on Kim, would a big September make us willing to spend $5 million more - or at least get...

Another big odds shift overnight. Baldwin is now the favorite at +100, Horton still +125. Collins has plummeted down to +400.

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

I’m guessing he has in the unofficial complex league that’s going on. But no stats are public from it so hard to know for sure.

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

Last week of the minor league season for the lower levels. Last year the Braves brought Caminiti up to start a game in the final week for Augusta. Curious to see if they do the same thing with Briggs McKenzie before Sunday.

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

Big game for Baldwin tonight. Collins just had a pinch hit two-run single to tie the Phillies in the eighth inning. Routine ground ball to short but Turner was playing up the middle and couldn’t field it.

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

Collins on the bench today for the third time in their last nine games. They just recently activated Jackson Chourio, which looks like it could eat into Collins’ playing time some.

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

It looks like we’ll face lefties twice in the next nine games - and both times it’ll be Imanaga from the Cubs.

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

Big odds jump overnight. Horton still +125 but Baldwin went from +225 to +150. Collins down to +240.

Great chance to give Baldwin a start on national TV … and nothing.

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

Horton was OK yesterday. Five innings, two runs at Coors. Collins went 2-3 with a two-run double and a walk. Horton now +125, Collins +200, Baldwin +225.

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

Just realized we're facing lefties on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Philly. Going to be frustrating to see how few opportunities Baldwin gets.
