I didnt either but it's not that shocking on the surface. When Snit played him like a starter, and AA probably wants Murphy starting/playing most of the games given what they traded for him. Plus 8M for a backup catcher is a hefty chunk of change.

I mean, i'm not expecting a Soto, Burnes, Bregman type signing. But i'd be surprised if AA didnt add at least one high priced player in FA. We have alot of needs, so i'd expect AA to add a good bit.

I think it's probably best for both sides to part ways. I'd be fine with Charlie, but i'd want someone with a little more upside like Eovaldi.

He'll probably go to one of the NY teams but if there's a player to spend 3/4 of our offseason budget on, it's Soto.

Soto just turned 26, so the last 2-3 years would probably be a little bad but you'd be getting him for his prime years. He's also exactly the type of hitter we need. We have like a 2 percent chance of getting him but i'd do 12/550 VERY easily.

I think Boras knows Soto wont get what Ohtani did. But given Soto's age, he just turned 26. Dont think it's hard to see him get 550-600M's. Boras does overplay his hand sometimes, so we'll see.

He was only available a couple years ago but he had a QO attached to him. He re-signed with Boston after they won the WS. But he'd be a great addition if we could get him.

Morosi said he thinks Braves have a better chance at signing Eovaldi than Texas does. Texas is also possibly cutting payroll, and Eovaldi wont come with a huge, long-term deal like Fried will. So that's up AA's alley. Strider, Sale, Lopez, Schwelly and Eovaldi would certainly be a very very...

He can say that but if the right opportunity presented itself, i could see him waive it. Especially if St Louis does a mini retool this offseason.

Sounds like Houston is gonna try real hard to keep Bregman.

To go with others, not really in favor of moving Baldwin. After seeing Contreras develop into a top 5 catcher already. Legit catchers are hard to find, and Baldwin's advanced stats look legit. He should be up sometime in 25 once his clock time has passed.

Ozuna DH'd every game this season, IIRC. Could be wrong.

We may need to put a more emphasis on the bench but the team is built to have the starters play the majority of its games. However, guys like Laureano and Merrfield played well once we got them. Getting rid of TDA so Snit cant platoon or play him over Murphy all the time was probably a needed...

How many teams could afford to survive the injuries the Braves had this past year? It was a minor miracle they won 89 games given who was missing all year.

Losing JJ will be tough, he was nails this past year. But bullpen guys arent usually too hard to find or expensive. But the wrong ones can screw you over. AA's usually pretty good at building a bullpen though, so i trust him.

Yeah, Miller is the dream trade target. No idea what it'd cost though.

Best case, hope hes back for July/September to ramp up for the playoffs. Certainly puts bullpen as a bigger hole with Minter most likely gone also.

Waldrep for Devin Williams? I kid, i kid... Maybe. Does put bullpen as a bigger need now with JJ out for most of next year.

Yeah, Cole clears Fried by a good bit. Other than Game 6 of the WS where Fried was incredible, legendary game that may get his jersey retired in Atlanta. He's been quite underwhelming in the postseason. There's a reason the Yankees signed Cole quickly.

Soto just turned 26, waits for age jokes. So i could see the team that gets him, give him a 13-14 year deal that pushes up to 600M to lower the AAV. A 13-14 year deal would put it at around 42-46 a year. Spotrac has us at 176 on the tax, but thats with TDA on it, and Laureano and Canning as...
