Erlin and Milone. Both are batting practice guys at this point. Much rather see Matzek starting with Tomlin. At least those guys can get people out and keep games close. Neither are likely to ever be 6 inning guys on a regular basis. But, at least you can get to the 4th still in the game. Call...

    2020 Trade Deadline Thread

I was referencing the talent raised in the system and brought in via trade. Also, the refusal to move certain talent during a rebuild (not all AA's fault by any means) is now showing itself to be a major error. Take FF out of the conversation and focus exclusively on Teheran, Folty, Inciarte...

This is talent windage. Something the Braves haven't been very good at outside of a few outlier no brainers like the Swanson deal. The Fried deal looks like it's working out. The Soroka pick looks good. But when you consider all the gyrations performed by the Johns then AA and his Group, the...

Nothing burger. As expected. Sorry. Forgot the batting practice guy, Malone.

Interested to see what Cleveland gets back. IMO, with them being willing to move him now, I think there is something wrong. Not necessarily health but maybe something like an alcohol problem or attitude issue. I think buyer beware.

    2020 Trade Deadline Thread

Why wouldn't Cleveland just hold Clevinger for another couple of months and move him in the offseason if they are willing to take a Waters headline type deal? It just doesn't make sense for them unless they can flip what they get from Atlanta for what they need now. They aren't going to plug...

    2020 Trade Deadline Thread

I think two starters and a 3B is the goal. I doubt they get anything of substance since the money pressure to move players is likely not there in most cases and the ask will be sky high for what the Braves want. I just don't think AA will be willing to part with his best pieces for rentals...

    2020 Trade Deadline Thread

MLB couldn't directly go hard after two icons of the game in JS and Hart. So they went after the franchise. Coppy and his henchmen got theirs in other ways. Only thing that makes sense.

Some possibles for the rotation might be Teheran, Matz, Eovaldi, Perez, Harvey, Boyd, Lynn, Bundy, Walker, Cueto, Gausman Not a great list. Some can be had for nothing because of expense. Some are really worth nothing and you'd have to hope they rebound. Pretty ugly all the way around.

    2020 Trade Deadline Thread

We got a week - August 31. Things that are clear for the Braves: Pen = good, Offense = OK but could be great with a 3B fix and health for some guys. SP = horrendous No one knows how teams will value the season much less trade pieces. My guess (only that) is that nothing much happens. The...

I just don't see a fit with the Indians. First, I don't think they see Clevinger and/or Plesac as surplus. Second, they need immediate ML OF help. The Braves don't really have that. Even IF Pache were made available, and he would likely have to be to get Clevinger, that is no immediate help...

GDT 8/16- Robbie and the 2 Hole !!

You have to believe that Pache not being up is about clock management at this point. Maybe AA just doesn't think 2020 season is worth burning control.

Where's Carter Stewart when you need him? Seriously, how bad do you need to be as a pitching organization to go through years of rebuild and trot out what we're seeing on an everyday basis. Sure, Soroka has paid off well, until injury. And Fried looks to be pretty solid, maybe even approaching...

Many here will have no idea what you're talking about. Braves traded Brett Butler, Brook Jacoby and Rick Behenna plus $150K to Cleveland for RHP Len Barker. Butler was a CF/LO guy and a 49.7 career fWAR player, 47.2 came with clubs after he was traded by the Braves. Jacoby was a 3B/1B guy who...

I don't disagree. I do think that IF the season falls apart you need a strategy. From an opposite POV, trading for pitching in this season is a non-starter for me.
