I think just about anyone would be better than Snit. Snit never should have given the job in the first place.

    GDT 9-8: Dansby is Home

Cherry picked? It's literally his last 266 innings. He had a good 3 month stretch to start his rookie that was propped up by bubble gum ands scotch tape. But he's been exactly the same pitcher since July 2023. Which is a 5+ ERA pitcher.

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

He might be able to get a similar deal. 1 year around 10-15 mil with a 2nd year option. But yeah, he isn't getting a major pay day. It probably isn't worth the risk to decline the option.

    GDT 9-8: Dansby is Home

5.61 ERA since the start of July 2023. 4.78 FIP. 266 IP.

    GDT 9-8: Dansby is Home

Again, at some point, you are what you are, and not what you're expected stats say you are.

    GDT 9-8: Dansby is Home

Ignoring the fact that his mid 4 FIP is still really bad, I would pay more attention to his FIP if he didn't already an ERA a full run higher than his FIP for 2 straight seasons. At some point, you are what your stats say you are, and not what the expected stats say you are. He's a garbage...

    GDT 9-8: Dansby is Home

Wentz is better than Elder, imo. I would much rather give him starts than Elder. Not to mention, even before our off-season moves, we already have a starting 5, with Lopez and Waldrep as our 4 and 5 pitchers. We also have Holmes who should be ready to start the season and could start a handful...

    GDT 9-8: Dansby is Home

Elder is not even a #5 starter. He doesn't need associated with the Braves after 2025. He is beyond terrible.

    GDT 9-8: Dansby is Home

But Elder is still Elder. 3rd highest ERA in baseball since the start of 2024 (min 150 IP). And the Cubs are one of the best offensive teams in baseball.

Sean Murphy with a hip tear

Would a prospective team really do an MRI on his hip? We apparently haven't done one in at least 2 years. And since it's been bothering him for 3 years, either we didn't do an MRI or we missed it altogether when we traded for him. Or it's possible we saw it and we didn't care. I'm not sure...

    GDT 9-8: Dansby is Home

Well the Braves have been getting embarrassed all year, so hopefully that means we dominate next year.

    GDT 9-8: Dansby is Home

Want to see my luck with sports betting? This was my parlay last night All ML parlay: Mets Cubs Red Sox Dodgers +598. I used a 50% Odd Boost to get it up to +898. Elder was throwing for us. Aaron Nola was throwing for the Philthies. Nola is just about the only pitcher alive with a higher ERA...

GDT 8-1: Braves at Reds; Marcell's 5th Straight Game

Maybe. But it took an MRI to diagnose. Is that part of the standard physical during a trade? It's reported he's been playing through it for 3 years, so did we miss it when he was traded to us? He had like an 830ish OPS at the deadline. Seems like he was playing through it just fine at the time...

GDT 8-1: Braves at Reds; Marcell's 5th Straight Game

In a strange twist of fate that could only happen to us, Murphy had both a 2-32 stretch AND a major injury. We could have gotten a legitimate long term piece at deadline. Instead we're gonna be paying a backup catcher 15 million annually for the next 3 years. And when people complain about not...

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

He WAS a top 5 prospect for us. He was probably even our top overall prospect heading into 2024. But the 2024 was a disaster of a season for him and fell off the radar. Surprisingly though, he was still ranked top 100 overall on Baseball Prospectus coming into 2025 and top 50 on FG, so at least...

    Minor League Thread Part Deux

Excited to see more of Cody Miller and get a good read on his defense. I see a little bit of Brendan Donovan in him as a hitter. If he could be average defensively at SS, he could be a good option at SS for awhile.

NL Rookie of the Year Watch

The big thing is he kept promoting his buddies or pulling other coaches that used to coach with him other places. No looking outside his bubble for the best option when things went south, just a next man up philosophy. That might work when you are BB or Andy Reid and you have a HOF QB at your...

    Tankathon draft pick watch

Going no better than 1-5 over our next 6 would help a lot towards locking in a bottom 6 finish.
