GDT 8-1: Braves at Reds; Marcell's 5th Straight Game

Tomorrow will be telling if Snit continues to play Ozuna. Both catchers will have had 27ish hours to rest up. They also face a RHP.

In a strange twist of fate that could only happen to us, Murphy had both a 2-32 stretch AND a major injury.

We could have gotten a legitimate long term piece at deadline. Instead we're gonna be paying a backup catcher 15 million annually for the next 3 years. And when people complain about not having money to make moves, you can point back to this.

Like others have posted multiple times in the other thread, he wouldn’t have been able to be traded with that injury at the deadline.

Also, Murphy will still be more than tradeable when he comes back early next year.

Maybe. But it took an MRI to diagnose. Is that part of the standard physical during a trade? It's reported he's been playing through it for 3 years, so did we miss it when he was traded to us?

He had like an 830ish OPS at the deadline. Seems like he was playing through it just fine at the time. That makes me feel like he likely injured it further since that time.

He definitely injured it further, which was in the last month. Which is how the Braves caught it and why Murphy was slumping so bad. I figured teams trading for guys with decent money attached wouldn’t leave anything to chance. Could be wrong.
