Braves Claim Kevin Herget From The Mets

Yeah this move is a team killer, terrible call

I think it’s strange to get your panties in a bunch over me saying I think Nola will age well and could be the guy he was last year for the better portion of that contract. But them panties are sure riding

He’s pitched between 92.6 and 93.3 his entire career until this year. I don’t really consider 92.9 to 92.6 a decline, especially considering he’s been at 92.6 before, but if you do, then fine I guess. Majority of the time he’s been at 92.9.

You said “continues to decline.” This is the first year of real, significant decline. So that’s why the “continues to” doesn’t make sense. Yes, his velo has declined this year. That’s not a continuance. He’s been upper 92 to low 93 his entire career before this year. He was effective at 92.6 and...

It’s definitely big if it sticks. Very possible he’s nursing something relatively small and can rebound, at least eventually.

I see you conveniently left out what it was before that 93.3. Let me help: 92.6 92.9 (arguably his best season) I doubt 93.1 to 92.9 is a statistically significant decline. Not sure why you’re nitpicking so much. He was a mid-3 ERA pitcher *last year*. He’s gone up and down on his ERA being...

True, his FB is down 1MPH this year which is big, but that hasn’t really declined until this year so not sure I get the “continues to” statement. He had a couple of higher ERA years where he pitched better than his ERA suggests which inflates that number. He’s always given up homers and I’m...

I find it really hard to believe AA was anywhere near what the Phillies gave him. He was pretty great in 2022, and 2021 ERA not withstanding. That said, I could see him being a mid to high 3 ERA guy for the length of that contract, which may not look so bad in 3 years.

GDT 5/13/25: Braves vs Nationals - Another Chance at .500

I mean no, they don’t. But I also think QOs are dumb and hurt players too much.

GDT 5/13/25: Braves vs Nationals - Another Chance at .500

Wouldn’t that make the whole thing extra stupid then? And yeah if the pick is high I’d rather a shot at another really good player for years than one more cheap(er) year of an already good one. I thought the point was to reward teams for having the ROY. If the system is solely in place to...

GDT 5/13/25: Braves vs Nationals - Another Chance at .500

Ok….but then if that player wins ROY the team doesn’t get a pick. Which is stupid.

But hurts teams who have guys come out of nowhere. Guessing Schwellenbach wouldn’t have qualified last year (not that it mattered). But it could matter. I get what they’re trying to do, just kinda weird.

GDT 5/13/25: Braves vs Nationals - Another Chance at .500

It is so stupid that they need to be on the lists. That said, if the Phillies can win with Castellanos in RF, the Braves can win with Ozuna or Drake in LF. It’s time.

Some Personal Thoughts On Brian Snitker

Right. Things were going fine with Snit up until last year and it’s really been awful this year. He is pretty clearly checked out. Not moving on is what makes me question the FO’s intelligence more than anything.

Some Personal Thoughts On Brian Snitker

You’re not “making a move just to make a move.” If a guy isn’t paying attention during games and isn’t checking in on his injured stars, he is not just terrible tactically but is also no longer doing the bare minimum. Like are we truly arguing that a manager who’s paying attention wouldn’t be...

I doubt the front office would attribute that to the manager. Like, they’re not dumber than any of us. They understand.
