He's also never hit in the major leagues before.

His projection seems pretty reasonable, maybe a bit optimistic. His steamer projection (yeah, a bit pessimistic) is .263/.316/.414. His 2016 season was .311/.387/.432 in A ball with a .359 BABIP. I would guess .275/.320/.430..........and it would be a damn fine season for a 20 year old.

That OPS would put him in the top 30 in history for aged 20 season. Ted Williams 1.045 Trout .9636 Correa .857 Heyward .849 Stanton .833 Cabrera .793 are some notables.

    Extent Freddie

    This seems awfully optimistic to me. I just searched 1B between the ages of 32-34 since 2000... You project Freeman to put up 12 WAR; Bagwell-23.3 Thome -23.1 Berkman-16.7 Giambi-14.7 Palmeiro-14.5 Olerud-12.3 -------------------------- Delgado-11.8 Helton-10.5 Cabrera-9.8...

    Lets say..

Ok, a terrible contract, a 25ish prospect and a decent prospect.

    Lets say..

If they are really wanting to trade him, someone will offer more than a terrible contract, and 2 decent prospects

    Lets say..

Why would the Marlins do that?

    Lets say..

That is a good idea. We should be targeting guys that will be entering their prime soon with year of control under their belt. Mix in a couple FA moves, but the most successful option will be giving up prospects for guys "like" Yelich.

    Dansby and bouncing back

Yeah, I mean thats an ok comparison; though JBJ is pretty much an average hitter. Maybe turn out to be a hair above

Conforto was at 96 wRC+ last year though. Swanson is at 52 this season.

This is the difficulty when building a team. Donaldson has slowed down some this year, but guess what, you arent signing any free agents that are 25 years old and at the top of the league. Yeah, you overpay for free agents, it's just the world you live in. The signing of Donaldson would...

He's hitting 27% above league average.

The surplus value logic is worthless and I'm a "stathead." Different teams have different ranks on players and different teams are looking for different things/positions/traits/etc. A lot of times you will see teams have soured on a prospect in their system despite the national rankings being...

Gray went a lot cheaper than I thought he would. Good deal for the Yanks, especially considering 2 of the 3 are injured.

Yeah, because this is the coaching staffs fault.

That is a ton of Ifs. What is really the best case scenario for Acuan as a 20 year old rookie? .800 OPS is super optimistic. Albies.....750? There were crazy optimistic expectations for Dansby out of the gate and he showed why it is important to show caution. Newcomb has a 4.25 FIP, Folty...
