The other Braves forum I follow (https://bravesjournal.us) has already, in their minds, given up and changed the team's name to the Hammers. They even have tee shirts.
Honestly, I think Acuna and Pache could cover the outfield by themselves. Just tell Ozuna that when there's a play in the infield, toss the ball to Pache and let him throw it in.
See, this is why the Braves need to go ahead and sign Springer and Ozuna right away. If the conversation has turned to the merits of Stella! vs Riley in left, the hot stove has gone mighty cold indeed.
Yes. I wish they'd done that. Also, the current results are from a very small sample size. Full stage three testing needs to happen. The best case for wide distribution is still late summer/early fall.
For the postseason, anyway. It's going to take a long, long time to ramp up manufacturing and distribution. The best-case scenario is something like 12 to 15 million doses available by February, and the ultra-cold storage hasn't even begun to be put in place.
It wouldn't surprise me at all if it's gone for a year, although I agree the source is dubious. The owners want something they can "give up" to the players next year. This is an easy one, unless they've already given it up.
Since that doesn't seem to be the case, would you try to hide him in left for one year? Hoping Pache and Acuna cover enough ground to hide him? Ender/Duvall for late-inning defense?
This. A thousand times this. Save at least some of the pen. Even if Wright just goes 3. The Braves will need Wright in the World Series, so let's see him rebound. And what a tremendous Snit-esque show of confidence. If nothing else, it's an investment in 2021.
My Dad went to his grave without forgiving Bob Gibson, whom he blamed for ruining Craig McMurtry's career. (Although to be fair, I think Dad would have forgiven him eventually if he hadn't forgotten about it first.)
