GDT 8/9/20 Game 1 - Ender returns to the lineup

Snitker got Girardi back by pinch hitting Duvall when he couldn't remove Morgan due to the 3 batter limit.

GDT 8/9/20 Game 1 - Ender returns to the lineup

Haseley was leadoff to start out, so Snitker got okie doked. Ynoa was an opener anyway, but I'd have gone Tomlin to not get okie doked.

GDT 8/9/20 Game 1 - Ender returns to the lineup

Snitker's wording made it very clear that Ynoa was an opener-only today. Likely to see Wilson next IMO in this spot when we have normal 9 inning games.

GDT 8/9/20 Game 1 - Ender returns to the lineup

There's why Snitker has decided to not start Ender. Too bad we're not in a normal circumstances year, because in normal circumstances, we would most likely have Pache and wouldn't have to start Duvall at all vs RHP.

    Lucas Sims

This is probably why AA has reassigned and let go some guys in development recently. Sims just didn't really have a chance to work with the newer guys. But when he said something, others have spoke up and have said that we've tried to typecast many of our young pitchers into sinker/change old...

08/08/20 GDT: Batlanta Raves @ Philadelphia Phillies

Yeah he was actually pretty good in the first three innings... Big thing is I don't like how straight his fastball is, and I think nobody does.

    GDT: Braves @ Phillies

At last check, Pache is already on the 40, so his options cycle has already begun. But calling him up for the DH doesn't make much sense. If we had a normal situation and had soured on Ender, as it looks, that would be the situation to call him up in.

    GDT: Braves @ Phillies

I think this is much more of the reason why Ender is currently not playing: https://twitter.com/b_outliers/status/1291176778497765378 He's both not hitting and has apparently lost a step in the outfield. And even though 60 games is a fair amount, we don't exactly have the time to try to...

    GDT 8-4 MAD MAX

Better question might be why haven't they gotten that wrist looked at. As it's even clearer with him when he's not right, and he's currently not. Reason he was dropped was because of his wrist.

    SP options

Yep, if we see Philly players testing positive, it'll most likely be called off. But for future reference, we've likely gotten into so much of a hole with SP that for 2021, if at all possible, we're likely going to have to do our best to acquire 2 starting pitchers. Maybe kick the tires on a...

GDT 28/7/2020: Brave New Post-Folty World Leaves Everything Faulty

Based on what Wright did before failing to get the 3rd out in the 3rd, I think I'd give him 2 more starts with a veteran catcher before potentially acting (and it might not matter anyway because we are in a world of hurt in the rotation). That stretch was honestly probably the best he's looked...

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

They haven't announced anything official yet, but I would treat this as your final nail in the coffin for 2020 Minor League Baseball... https://twitter.com/jaysonst/status/1275573110754942978 I'd also take this as an indicator that they are going to try as hard as they can to actually complete...

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

I think there is going to be a universal DH for 2020. The option for it in 2021 got removed when the players declined the latest offer (but for future purposes, it's likely to be on the next CBA and after everyone stops arguing, it's likely to get passed). I also have to think they're still...

Let's assume there will be < 60 game regular season

Yep, they will file a grievance and then play (edit: at least those interested in playing will). Then we'll find out the grievance outcome much later.

MLB optimistic about starting season in late June

I think there's a decent chance they give it a shot if they would agree to the revenue sharing idea that sounds like what the NFL does that I saw earlier today (it's rumored the players want to propose dividing revenue equally between every team for one year only, which LA and NY will likely be...

MLB optimistic about starting season in late June

I don't think Pache would play initially. My guess is that in the event of the DH (which looks likely if we do play), that we'd see Markakis/Duvall/Riley at that spot. Or maybe swap Ozuna with Markakis (LF though). Not awful, but other NL teams would have a greater advantage in getting the DH...

With old rules Washington's in regardless...they were the host. But there's still plenty of what if and luck to talk about here. What if Yelich isn't hurt (he doesn't boot that play), and deadening the ball swung the pendulum back toward leaning hard on stud starting pitching and looking to...

    Official Post Season Thread

I think this is the first year in some time that the best team in MLB didn't win it all actually. I'd say the last time it happened to an extent was 5 years ago in 2014. Most recently it had been about the most talented teams winning it all. That team this year was Houston. Easily even if you...

    Official Offseason Thread

I'm not sure that the Hechavarria ball leaves the yard if Busch Stadium's warning track is 5 feet long because of the number that I saw from STL's "analytics" and because the exit velocity wasn't all that high, but it gets much closer that it did and based off knowing this, the announcer going...

The thing that really smart teams actually do is to identify the next Cole and fine tune their pitches instead of paying for the work a team did.
