Braves fire Seitzer and assistant hitting coach. Also Fasano.

Really don't think Chipper is the answer for anything more than a part time role. With his personality and also being one of the greatest hitters of all time, he doesn't strike me as someone who'd have the patience to put in the work with hitters far less talented than him.

    Looking towards 2025

I wonder if they would take back Soler, only to off set some of the remaining cost of Gray's salary. Especially because I'm not so sure anyone would be willing to take Sonny Gray for 2 years $60 million. The Cardinals kind of shot themselves in the foot by frontloading that contract, now...

    Looking towards 2025

Based on the indications that the Jays front office has been sending out, they will be hesitant to trade him. They want to give it one last go round with him and Guerrero Jr before they both hit free agency. It's also why they never really considered trading either of them at the last trade...

Braves fire Seitzer and assistant hitting coach. Also Fasano.

Reading this is depressing. But also made me look back at his 2023 season, just to comprehend how special it was. He somehow dropped his K rate from 23% in 2022, to 11% in 2023, while at the same time maintaining his BB rate around 10%. All while still hitting for elite power. Incredible. Also...

    GDT 10/1/24 - Braves @ Padres - AJSS for WC Game 1

I'm with you on the feeling of not being mad after that loss. It was totally expected, and i literally had no expectation this team was going to win this round, especially once Sale went down. I was hoping they'd reach the playoffs and they did, no expectations beyond that. It's been a very...

    Looking towards 2025

I had thought for awhile the window of being an elite team would close with Fried leaving. However, now with the emergence of Sale, Schwellenbach and Lopez, to go along with Strider, I figured it could continue a bit longer since the hitting lineup remains largely the same from the elite 2023...

On an unrelated note, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on the Braves current contention window and how far it can extend. At one point it was thought that the end of the Acuna contract would mark the end of the window, but seemingly with the way the team is still developing talent from the...

GDT 9/11/24: Braves @ Nationals - A New Brave Appears

I'm still having a hard time coming to terms with how guys like Murphy, Olson, Harris, Arcia (and even Riley, Acuna and Albies when healthy) could have such a massive drop off in their stats from one season to another. Really hard to explain.

GDT 9/11/24: Braves @ Nationals - A New Brave Appears

You make good points. And this season certainly has been hard to watch, when considering the injuries and under performance across the board. I do wonder about the future of the team with the roster as constructed, and will be interesting to see how it plays out. But also have to consider...

Two things to keep in mind. -AA is pretty much on record as saying he won't trade guys who agreed to team friendly extensions. As a matter of loyalty. So we can pretty much forget that idea. -Many teams around the league are using the DH position as a spot to rotate guys through to get them...

I agree with every point you made but would like to point out I don't blame any of the GMs they've had. Their issue is their meddling owner.

Why in Keith Lockhart's name did John Boland Schuerholz Jr trade Jermaine Dye away?

But it should also be noted that Olson's extension was essentially below market rate. Imagine what he would have got as a free agent after last year. In addition, the years he should be productive align with the contention window of the team. So I'm not sure AA is as concerned about 5 years out...

It was a Nike thing, had to do with their template. They did that piping change for all of the teams who have jerseys with piping on the sleeve.

Five years later: John Sickels top 20 braves prospects for 2019

Maybe arguing semantics, but Riley finished in the top 10 in MVP voting the past 3 seasons. If that's not close to a 1% outcome for a prospect then I'm not sure what is.

Braves trade for Chris Sale - Grissom going to Red Sox (Extension through 26 at 18M)

I believe you had mentioned Kepler as an option for LF. I don't know what the cost would have been to acquire him, if he's even available, it that seems like it would have been a safer and more straightforward solution.

Braves trade for Chris Sale - Grissom going to Red Sox (Extension through 26 at 18M)

Well he already turned down the Nationals offer of $440 million a few years ago. Although that was over $15 years. Something tells me he will push for a higher total amount.

I can't see how they could expect anything from him. He was trending in the wrong direction prior to the injury to the point he was sent back to the minors.
