GDT 9/30/22: Braves vs Mutts - Going Full Power

Buck's act wears thin quick, but he's had success just about everywhere he's been.

    Rotation Down The Stretch

We are going to clinch prior to that Mets series.

GDT 8-31: Ronnie Returns with Kyle as The Stopper!!

Ronnie's knee issues are typical. Nothing structurally wrong with it, but he doesn't have confidence to rotate on it and feels pain when he does. "It's terrible. We're just going to play through it until the season is over." Sitting him isn't going to make those issues go away.

GDT: 30 Aug 22…Rockies vs Braves 7:20 pm

On Riley... He is a streaky hitter in that he will be a .750 OPS as a baseline and then have 100 ABS of 1.25+ like he did in July. When he gets hot like that again, I'd prefer it be in October. Maybe Ronald and Ozzie can come back and get hot like that at the same time.

Extension Talks With Swanson Reportedly Underway

Until proven wrong, I'm going to assume Dansby is gone. I think that was probably decided when he stuck with the agent after the Freeman fallout. It's not that the agent isn't doing his job, it is just the agent doesn't apparently mesh well with AA. AA likes to handle negotiations a certain...

GDT 8/24/22: Braves @ Pirates - Afternoon Sweeping

No one remembers who is in 1st on August 24. The Mets thought they buried the Braves in NY. Atlanta being very much alive appears to be unnerving the Mets.

GDT 8/22/22: Braves @ Pirates - Scrubbing the Odor of Odorizzi

The value of opting in for Odorizzi appears to be in the incentives for starts. Hard to think Odorizzi sees a path to a bunch of starts in an Atlanta rotation that will likely feature Fried, Wright, Strider and Soroka with potentially Anderson, Muller and Morton also in the picture.

    Grossman and analytics

When I think back on some of the guys the Braves have trotted out in LF over the years, I can't believe that someone as apparently athletic as Grissom can't learn to play LF while shagging flies in the OF during batting practice. The real question is whether we will want him to be playing...

Extension Talks With Swanson Reportedly Underway

20 million looks a lot cheaper 4 years from now. 4 years to develop a replacement. These deals are about getting an asset on an affordable long term agreement instead of walking for a draft pick.

Is Milligan REALLY good with the glove? The bat doesn't seem worthy of a late inning PH role, but above avg defense at multiple positions could have value I guess.

GDT 8/18/22: Braves vs Mutts - The Crucial Game

When Albies gets back, this will be the most complete Braves lineup I can recall. Power, speed, bat skills, etc. Great time to be a fan.

Even so, that's a pretty good starting pitching performance. That helped the big club get set-up for a VERY big week of baseball.

In the last three games, the Braves essentially ran out the AAA rotation against the Marlins. The results: 3 starts, 18 IP, 5 ER, 19K and 5 BB. An average of 6 IP and a 2.50 ERA. Granted, Ian Anderson was one of those pitchers, but that's some pretty good depth especially with Soroka looking...

    2022 Trade Deadline

What are you considering a mega contract? When you look at AAV, The Braves really don't give out mega contracts. I suspect Dansby is looking at a Braves offer in the $15 -$18 million AAV range. If he says no and hits FA, I'm guessing AA already has contingencies in place.

I think Russ nails it. The Riley and Olson deals tell Swanson what it looks like to end your career as a Brave. Dansby will be 29 in the first year of his contract. So unless he signs for 3 years or less, this is likely to be his one chance to change his great grand kids lives. Dansby's...
